I liked Moore's first movie. This one just disgusted me. First of all let me just say this " A man with a hammer is always looking for a nail" He's not going out looking for the facts and then coming up with a conclusion. He's going out with a conclusion and finding the right facts. Using selective stats to "prove" his point. we have a problem in America, I dont know what the answer is, but I do know this, Michael Moore does'nt have a clue.

Re: Bowling for Columbine. What is wrong with the U.S.?

I didn't watch the movie - I can't stand Tom Arnold when he's even remotely mentioned in regards to a national tragedy. Comedians should tell jokes, not point fingers.

KMart was not responsible for Columbine, neither was the NRA. It was their parents. Where were they? Who taught their kids how to hate to that degree? Who was most responsible for making sure their kids DO NOT hate to that degree?

Too many racists on all sides of the color lines in America - THAT'S the problem. Blacks hate Whites because of slavery and all that Segregation/Desegregation shit that doesn't exist any more and all the people who were directly involved in it are long dead, and because there are at least three White people still alive who proclaim White Power.
Whites hate Blacks because they are perceived as lazy asses who go around with their hands out looking for a welfare check, carrying three Social Security cards, yet driving a gold edition Escalade and wearing expensive jewelry and dealing drugs.
Hispanics hate Whites because they perceive Whites to be lazy asses who think that flipping burgers should pay them $150,000 a year.
Whites hate Hispanics because they are perceived as sneaking across an international border to find work and then sending American Dollars back to Mexico instead of pumping it into the same welfare/tax system they are getting subsidised with.
Hispanics hate Blacks because they are also perceived as lazy asses who expect to be paid $150,000 a year for Slavery Reparation PLUS another $150,000 a year for being Black and Proud.
Blacks hate Hispanics because they come here and work shitty jobs for low wages that no one else wanted and end up with a better home, car, and future than a Black man or woman sitting on their lazy ass whining about Slavery and how the White Man be keepin a brotha down.

The other problem with America - too many bleeding hearts worrying about other people's feelings. Fuck you all and your feelings. That doesn't mean I don't like you and wish you were dead, that means I don't give a fuck if you're happy or sad - it's not my job to make you happy, and it's not my responsibility to make you like yourself. If you hate yourself, then you have a personal issue you need to sort out and NOT blame it on me. I didn't make you hate yourself, I can't make you like yourself. I can't make you like me, and frankly I don't care if you do or not, because all that matters to me is me, and all that matters to you SHOULD be you. Don't worry whether or not I like you personally, it's not important to your well-being (though the liberal media wants you to think that). Fuck a damn communal mentality - you want peace and love, make it yourself for yourself and do it for yourself, because that's the only way you're gonna get it.

Well, Zamiale? What do you think of the movie *now*?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I never once said that I took this movie to be complete and accurate. Some parts were obviously bias. His interviews were saturated with loaded questions. I had read David Hardy's page before Pete posted it, trying to answer my own question. In fact, I even stated in the first part of my post "assuming all of his statistics and figures were true; I began to question what is wrong in this country."

The movie sparked my interest in regards to the serious problem we have in the U.S. Regardless how "deceptive" the movie was, everyone knows that we have a problem here and it doesn't seem to be as bad for our Canadian neighbors.

Canada=Socialist

U.S=Capitalist

end of discussion?

We aren't identical at all. Our cities are more crowded, there's more cultural mixing and tensions because of it. So, there's more violence and paranoia, because there are always people you don't trust invading your space. Canada is much more relaxed...I know, I've been there (Calgary, Edmonton Alberta)

No one should be blamed for the columbine tragedy....well, maybe god . But shit happens dudes. Just be glad it wasn't at your own kid's school if you have'em.

And how is it God's fault - for letting us make our own choices and suffering the consequences of making the wrong choice?

Sorry, but God didn't force those kids to do it - the parents of those two killers didn't do their job of raising their kids right. Period.

you speak from experience...raising a family and all right?

sure.

yeah that's what I was getting at with the god thing. If you don't want school shootings...don't give people free choice. Parents...no matter how hard they try and "think" they're doing good with their kids...they don't know what's going on in their child's life. Their teachers see them more than their parents do. YOu can't put all the blame on them...you can't completely blame anyone. So don't blame anyone for a tragedy. SUre they were fuckheads. But I repeat, shit happens, get over it. It'll happen again before any of us die probably. Pointing fingers solves nothing.

Did Moore once touch on the psychology of bullying in his "documentary?" I'm not trying to excuse mass-murder, but the killers were after people who fucked with them one too many times, which is why many many witnesses said they went by one person after another without shooting them.

Public school is a prime enviroment for something like that. Someone gets bullied by someone "cool" and everyone else follows so they too can be thought of as "cool". I'm one of the guys who isn't really that surprised by the Columbine shooting. Not that it wasn't tragic, but it was bound to happen eventually.
