Dropped off my JVM210H today with Stan Day up in wilmington for a couple of mods
Od Gain reduction
Negative Feedback mod
Plexi Mod
Od2 to OD1 mod
these are supposed to really open this thing up and make the 3 modes on the OD channel much easier to manage,
Plexi mod smooth the high end
negative feedback mod will allow the power tubes to break up more gradually. This lets you change how you get your gain
leave it alone and it's all preamp, lower the negative feedback and you can lower the pre amp gain and crank up the master and get some power tube gain , a mix of the two
is ideal. the 2203 and Eddies early amps used this approach, supposedly lets you control the dynamics of the amp a lot more.
Od2 to OD1 mod is a change of a couple of capacitors that changes the voicing of the OD channel on the 210 from the OD2 on the 410 to the OD1 which
is a bit more mid strong and open sounding.
All 4 mods are easily reversible so i figured I'd give them all a try since I finally got hold of a tech that knows what he's doing.
I'll give a full report when I get it back (hopefully this weekend)
