Well, he sorta did F us in the A... he took his sweet fucking time sending in FEMA and the troops. The govt. knew VERY well that this would be a catastrophic storm.

Having said that, FEMA and the troops saved thousands of lives when they did get in here. They got in here a little sooner than NOLA because we didn't have standing water and we weren't near as crazy with looting. Our cops stayed on the job instead of joining the looters like many NOPD officers did.

People think of the MS Coast as "white" and NOLA as "black"; well, our population on the Gulf Coast is 36% black, more than 1/3 and less than 1/2.
The difference is that blacks here largely abided by the law, while blacks in NOLA went looting and raping. So it's not a black thing, it's a criminal element in New Orleans thing.

The government needs to clean up its response time and efficiency for the sake of the next victims of natural disaster. If it would at least learn something from the clusterfuck that was and is the Katrina response, then the suffereing down here will at least not be for nothing.

OK, I get what you are saying..but Spike Lee, Al Sharpton, NAACP and alot of minorities and their leaders are seemingly making this a "black thing"..so this is not the case..I wouldn't think so..

This was the intention of this thread ..when I heard the news of the movie coming out.

I think everything was so chaotic, and hit so hard that it was just overwhelming, and the crime rush certainly didn't help matters..

Is it possible that well..human error + panic induced crime..they had NO clue how to respond to such matters in a timely fasion at that time.

It definitely had to be a learning experience for all across the board..I would think..

Spike also lied on GMA the other day. He said there were only 3 key patterns and that a FEMA trailer key would open 1 out of 3 trailers. Now it is fucked up, but it's really 1 out of 10. Where he got his numbers, who knows? It's still fucked up, but he just has to make it worse than it is.

And yeah, the local government in NO was and is black-ruled. Who's the one who waited til 36 hours before landfall to declare evacuation? That's Nagin. Who failed to mobilize the buses of the scool district and the local transit line to evacuate people at least to Baton Rouge? Again, Nagin. Of course we were guilty of the same mistakes on the MS Coast, but next time these buses will be used to evacuate large numbers of people.

Those assaults and rapes in the Superdome and Convention Center did not come from invaders sneaking into the damage zone. Those were local citizens who got bored and preyed on their fellow refugees.

New Orleans has always been a notoriously dangerous city. Walk down the wrong block and your ass is grass. You can call that a "black" thing or a New Orleans thing. Blacks here in MS did not break the law in large scale like those in NO did. I think we had it just as bad here as they did. We didn't have standing water for weeks, but our infrastructure was totally fucked. The casinos, the major employers, were all knocked out. Keesler AFB, which had probably 40,000 personnel and civilian employees, was so badly damaged that all but 2,000 personnel were transferred. That completely destroyed the local economy. The other major part of the economy, shrimping and fishing? Most boats were destroyed. Again, the insurance companies aren't paying either. some of those insurance company CEOS are gonna get popped before it's over; shooting adjusters isn't getting the message up the ladder.

So we were more severely fucked than NOLA, but all you see on the news is NOLA. Because that was protrayed as a racial incident, and the citizens acted like animals, that story was more sexy than ours.

Someone point out to me a clear-cut case of racial inequality right here right now. I don't mean some backwoods redneck buttmunch, I mean show me a black man or woman being passed over for a promotion, job, home loan, credit card, or being arrested based solely on the color of his/her skin.
Show me this "racism" and "comin down on a brother" I keep hearing about, cuz all I see "comin down" is loudmouth and lazy blacks comin down on all whites. They even belittle the hard-working and dedicated blacks who get out and get a job and KEEP a job as "whitey pawns" or "betraying your heritage".

My neighbor has fallen on serious hard times. She's an older woman who's a cancer patient. She can't do a lot in terms of work, but she does what she can. Her husband, a construction worker, fell sick and was hospitalized for about 3 months and almost died.

She had no other choice than to apply for welfare... The end result was she had too much to qualify for it. She had a car, a house and $20k in the bank. They told her to give up her home, sell her possessions, move into an apartment and use the only money she has to live on.

The kick in the head is all of the brand new Lexus, Mercedes, Cadillacs, etc. in the parking lot. And if you watch long enough you'll see those cars don't belong to the employees there, but to the blacks there picking up the checks and shit.

Same thing happened to my mother when she was in the hospital with cancer. She didn't qualify! So the whole welfare system can kiss my entire ass!

As for racism, it's definitely out there, but not where the blame is placed. Most whites, I'm not one of them, are too afraid of being labeled a racist to even speak up about it!
