    They havent really been announcing the new stuff.

    I am still pretty in the dark about the new stuff (also fender had a change in their rep situation across the board) so everyone is kinda in the dark.

          I honestly dont understand what people are expecting. You have to understand the price of wood has gone up tremendously over the last year and 1/2. FMIC is there to make a profit. So are we (the dealers) we cant give the stuff away. Somebody earlier was complaining that dealers wont discount below the advertised price. There is a reason, we have to make certain margins in order to stay in business. if a guitar streetprices for 2000 dollars" there isnt that much profit in it. People think that I make a mint on guitars, when in reality dealers make generally less than 25% profit. You get what you pay for, and you dont get what you dont pay for.
          I will prolly catch hell for this, but so be it. You cant afford the 2K, then you honestly dont need to buy it. Get something thats 1500 or less, until you can. No shame in that.
          There is a reason that the 500 dollar guitar isnt as nice as the 2000 dollar one, and conversly there is a reason that the 2000 dollar guitar isnt 500 dollars.

            on another note, in order for Jackson to stay out of China, with the neckthrough stuff, they have to pay to have them made in the states and japan, which does cost more labor wise. Maybe there will be a Korean Jackson neckthrough one day, I think the Fusions were made there, but if you still want MIJ quality, it does cost about 10-15% more

              i agree with what you're saying with "you get what you pay for" but the sad part is jacksons prices have gone up so much and their korean competitors quality is just as good or better .

                Strongly disagree, even some schecters and bc richs which I consider more then good enough pale in comparison to the top japanese jackson quality. I can see the value of these guitars for sure! Doesn't mean I can afford them though, d'oh!

                  I know what you are saying, and I dont know that people can argue the Korean vs Japan thing that much anymore, but generally it is better than the Chinese. and I think the only way to make a guitar with the Japan Specs below 1000 profitable (neckthrough, ect) is to have then go to China, and to make them more assembly line produced, as the guitars in Japan are still made with a more hands on aproach than most other companies' guitars. But in the end, quality is quality, no matter where it is made, and Value is value.

                    who really 'needs' it?

                    i know that i don't 'need' it, but that's not what 'gas' is about.

                    i guess that i just didn't realize what a depreciable expense 'nostalgia' is;
                    we'll see come next holiday season...

                      I understand where you are coming from, but, you've brought it up on so many threads that it loses some of the impact.
                      We get that they're expensive. We get that they are overpriced.
                      It's just your kinda raining on the parade. If you get what I'm saying.

                      It's nice to dream and you're bringing me down.

                        but its not so much depreciating, as the cost of still doing the same way costs so much more.
                        i didnt mean you dont need it, I mean it would be unwise to buy it. As unless you play guitar for a living, and you only guitar dies, you dont NEED it, but where is the fun in that logic...

                        I understand what G.A.S. is.. I own a store and have hardcore GAS for stuff as well, stuff that even as a dealer, I cant do.
