Re: Vinnie Vincent Jackson V Questions

I think Vinnies 2 invasion releases are top shelf all the way.Mark Slaughters vocals were a bit too promenent on number 2 but I'm sure the producers wanted it that way.Vinnies song writing is great as well as his playing, using the harmonics in between chords and solos is not an easy thing to do and do it well.Vinnie if your reading this I travel the road a lot and wont leave home without VVI 1&2 to listen to.I've got 3 sets of casettes of VVI 1&2 truly fine music.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Mike, who was playing guitar for KISS at the KISS/Aeorsmith show?...is Ace back?...I was under the impression that TT would be playing this tour with them....

I wouldn't really call Ace an aweseome performer, especially these days (saw him on the 2001 Aussie "Farewell" tour) but that is the magic of what makes Ace, Ace. Slurred vocal lines, sloppy guitar work, bumping into things as he stumbles his way around the stage, that's the magic of Ace. He's a bum, but we love him.

Actually Ace was a really good player....unfortunately no one ever got to see him play while he wasnt under some kind of influence..............

Re: Vinnie Vincent Jackson V Questions

True, true, his 78 Solo album showed what he could do when he got off his ass and gave it his all. Unfortunately, this gave him a big head and he needed the constant pushing of other people (ie John Regan) to put more material out. It would have been tough battling uphill agains Ace's natural laziness and his "couldn't give a crap, somebody else will do it for me" attitude. Witness his awesome solo career after the not too bad Trouble Walkin' album...playing clubs with Peter and freezing his ass off in the van when the reunion came along. That's what Peter said anyway...

Re: Vinnie Vincent Jackson V Questions

Ya it was Thayer. I have to say, he is killer! Man his tone, his playing..his fan interaction ALL totally impressed me. I agree with you guys, on the Reunion tour Ace was amazing, but he HAD to be, Gene had specific details in his contract that kept Ace sober and in shape. After that tour, once Ace felt comfy again, he went back to being the drunken bum that he is, damn him. Anyway, TT playing great and I was totally won over by him, he played the role to a T, tho he was sober and played without flaw!

Poor Ace...he has been promising a new solo cd for 15 years now...he declined the KISS tour to finish his record. One that WILL NEVER see the light of day. Wake up ACE...without KISS your a bum that can barely fill a club, put down the crack pipe, pick up the LP and rock, you moron.

Ace Frehley quote of the decade, from the DVD "Kiss: The Second Coming" Ace: "if I would have known that I would influence SO many guitar players...I woulda practiced more."

                    Nuff said.

                    Be Cool,
                    Mike
