I seem to remember that in the 80s everyone I knew was upset by the charvel imports saying they were crap.my brother still plays the model 2 i sold him in 88 and loves the damn thing.i also remember people bitching about the performer line saying they were junk.i absolutly love my PS4 and play it everyday.I too used to be a made in USA purist but over the years have found that a good guitar doesnt have to be made in america its all in what you like and what sounds good to you.quality is all in the eye of the buyer.i for one love my adrian smith sdx Im just thankfull that i have a jackson strathead for 349

For me at least I'll stick with the Japanese and USA Jackson/Charvel's used or new...I tried to give the new X series a try and just too many problems for a guitar in that price range. Give it a few more years and they might get it right. I'm talking about the RRXMG in white. The stripes was off, Floyd route was a bit off center, Floyd nut off to one side to much, not to mention the guitars color was painted over the binding....who in the hell does that????..and all for $699 I can find a hell of a better deal on ebay for a made in Japan series Jackson or Charvel for that price...Don't know why Jackson/Charvel has to be made in 4 different countries...At the very least they are producing guitars out of Mexico...Why not move all production there?????? Or better yet do what they did here in the States and move Jackson into Fender in Corona...Do the same in Fender Japan but crank out some quality guitars. The Jackson/Charvel players that played the Japanese made guitars including me are left with crap. Thank god we have well over 20+ years of Japanese quality on the used market.

Well, I thought my SLXQ was a good deal. FFS, neckthru AND quilt top? Not one flaw either. And once I get it back with Invaders, it'll just be better.

Another point to consider is that Jackson doesn't make money on used gear, so all those great deals we're enjoying on higher-quality axes are costing Jackson sales.

Maybe if Jackson would get their heads out of their asses and not take 2 years to deliver a custom order they'd make more money by getting more orders.

Exactly. If I order a full custom guitar it's going to be from Carvin. I'd love a custom Jackson but 2 years is bullshit.

A custom guitar shouldn't take 2 fucking years, period. How many sells is Jackson losing? Even if I had the money, I can't see waiting 2 years. Carvin takes 7 to weeks. Jackson needs to hire some more guys. Even if it's a 6 month wait, I bet they would triple their custom shop sells.

Not to defend the two-year wait period, but Carvin don't seem to offer as complete a custom service as Jackson do. A little while ago I asked them if they'd do a 20" radius neck on one of their models (the Holdsworth already has one), and they said no. Likewise they said no to scalloping.

If Jackson had a custom shop that worked the way it's supposed to, I'd buy one. But there is no way in hell I'm waiting 1-2 years. Is it just me or should a high priced custom shop order take priority?

If Jackson is attempting to create a corporation legend like Rolls Royce where the waiting period is part of the buying process, they have failed miserably for many reasons...the key reason is that potential buyers will go elsewhere.

So I know some Jackson employees read these things so here is my idea as mentioned by myself and others....just hire more workers! You can justify the expense of a few more employees by the money that will be coming in at a faster pace. It's not rocket science here.

Two years is certainly a long time, but I think I can see why it takes so long. From what I understand, the Jackson guys have a small shop in the corner of the Fender factory, and only use the same old machinery they've been using since the 80s. Considering the size and tools they have, bringing in more workers just means they would be over-staffed. Now with the guitars, I would imagine priority lies on making guitars for the big names, followed by making one-offs and limited runs for the various Jackson dealers, followed by all the USA Selects they have to churn out, and after all of that, they can finally get to work on "Joe Schmoe's" guitar. Oh.. they also supplied the guitars for that movie, not so long ago...

This is all speculation on my end from info I've found on this board, but it makes sense.

So what you're saying is Fender should come up off some of that capital and buy some more machines as well as hiring more workers? Still doesn't seem like rocket science to figure that one out.

I like the idea of Jackson having a lower end name for their < $300 guitars. A $250 dinky is still a much cooler guitar than a comparable Squier (NOT Squire!) but it does give the whole brand a "budget guitar" stigma to it.

                              How about Metalman by Jackson?
