  • Face it. Home run. Don't know about a Japanese model though. I think FMIC is looking at their investment in that country very carefully before they put much more time and money into it. That Fukashima reactor has passed meltdown and gone into melt through. Tokyo is already registering deadly amounts of radiation. If the core hits the water table it will be a mushroom cloud from the heat of the core hitting the ocean water.

    Just saying.

Where are you seeing that? Last report I read was that it was under control.

It's not reported through out the common western main stream media (abc, cnn, bbc, msnbc... etc), you have to go through alternative media and blogs. Even the media sources in Japan like NHK World have a better coverage on the subject. Also Russia Today, Al Jazeera and Democracy Now do sporadic coverage here and there... You also can google it or do a search on You-Tube, tones of reports to go through...
Nonetheless, I'm not sure if such nuclear meltdown crises will have any significant effect on the Japanese guitar industry in the near future.

        • Maybe not to soon, but it has surpassed Chernobyl on a much bigger scale.
          Chernobyl is entombed.
This is not. plus full exposure of 2 of the 6 reactor rods. The core is so hot that if it does not hit the water table it will theoretically melt through to the Earths core because it just gets hotter as it goes.
And workers cannot reach the facility anymore before they are so hot they loose the ability to work. The company that owns the reactor reported this to investors and Japanese government. This is the worst NRC disaster ever. They only have scientific guess' as to what comes next because this has never happened before..
          So we'll see.
I love my Japanese Jackson's. Thats why I watch.

          • ^ I understand what you're saying as I've been following it since day one, however, it's really hard to tell at this point how such a catastrophe might have a significant effect on the nation's economy and its industry as a whole. I know something for sure that the Japanese are a very resilient people and will overcome this disaster probably sooner than later, so let's be optimistic and hope for the best.

The question is, if FMIC decided to move their production let's say to South Korea for any reason, would that affect the quality of their guitars, and would import fans be as excited or as committed to the Jackson products?

I love my Japanese guitars, all but 1 are from there. My Jackson's and Charvel's, and I love them. I don't know if I'd ever buy a South Korean Jackson... I'd have to try it out first.

                • Back in the 90's Akai built (or bought) a Korean factory for producing the acoustic line they made. Some Charvel solid bodies were made there to see how good they would be.
When FMIC purchased the Jackson/Charvel Manufacturing company, did they get that property with it? Or was it not part of the deal? Thats a question worth hearing an answer on.
And while we are at it, the sample I played then was not up to Japanese par then. But now maybe a different story. I am not racist towards Koreans. My Korean made 2005 Schecter Ultra holds its own in my collection with no problem.

Apparently the 7 string Floyd Pro is being developed for this guitar, which is one reason it's behind schedule.
