Trivium. I pretty much hate Tuck's singing, so that's a turn off. Plus I really dig how Matt and Corey's styles blend.

You don't need to be tuned to drop W to sound heavy. Most of these bands don't understand that.
          +1 on all accounts,

dropping the tunings doesn't make it metal, otherwise, Motley Crue would be more metal than Testament, Slayer, Megadeth, and damn near everyother metal band from that era. not to mention classic Sabbath, Priest and Maiden aswell.

I wanna hear a metal band that tunes UP to F, not down! that would be badass

BFMV and Trivium are both excellent... I listen to some of the most brutal death metal, and most demonic black metal, and still listen to and love BFMV and Trivium. Neither are pussies, and have equal talent to, say, Obituary, In Flames, Emperor, or Slayer, (some of my fav bands), it's just presented in a different and more accesible format. People who slag them off bore me to death...

I'll tip my hat to Trivium because say what you will, they still did guitar solos when all the other nu-metal bands and MTV bands including Metallica were not.

if I was going to call every band I didn't like shite, then there's Van Halen with DLR which is probably the biggest pile. Slayer, slayer would be a pretty sizable pile of shit to. All black metal would just be one giant lump of shit. 99% of death metal (which is my favorite genre) would be in a big pile of shit.

I guess because if you don't like something then it's shit, then what's that guitars name? Something Lane? I guess he would be shit to because I don't really enjoy his stuff/ but you know, if not liking something means it's shit then I guess he's shit too (RIP) Hendrix, another pile of shit, the beatles, dear god what a giant pile of shit that it.

Dio (Who I personally respect a lot though I'm not the biggest fan) is shit.

There's people who don't like Randy Rhoads, but of course for those who do, shame on you, because he''s shit too.

pretty much, going with the attitude that if one doesn't like something then it's shit then really all music is shit. which btw, that would also go for ALL the bands anyone here likes. they are all shit.

so if you like any band at all, please note right now, that they are shit. They suck monkey balls and purple donkey cock. they should be ashamed for showing their faces and kill themselves right this minute.

oh yeah, and everyone of you should destroy your guitars right now, because any music you make, well you guessed it. is shit.

Hmm, i think i was trying to make a point here, but just can't seem to remember what it was...

oh yeah, HANSON FOR THE WIN!
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Most trivium songs are in standard. Seriously. Except for Shogun, alot are in B but that is soley because they are using seven strings. I am a HUGE fan of both, but Matt and Corey Mop the floor with padge and tuck in terms of solos.
I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.

Isnt it amazing to think both bands have gotton custom guitars made for them...

Just shows you kids... learn guitar to a below average level, get signed and you too can have any guitar you want made for you. ..good luck to em I say! hahahaha :ROTF:

It´s not about skill! (though i doubt matt and corey´s skills are below average...)
It´s about writing music! Some of the greatest songs of all time have a quite simple structure and can be covered by almost everyone, however, they did not create it in the first place!
Another example: There are countless guys out there that play Yngwie´s stuff to a level close to perfection, but whatever they are going to do they will never be able to create this kind of music themselves (at least not the majority)

Know what I am talking about?

Sorry but if your gonna put out a clip called I betcha can`t play this... then can`t play there own licks, then there is something wrong in this world.

Of course you are right about (writing music).. it`s all about the songs.

you dont get Adrian Smith playing on "I betcha can`t play this" coz he doesnt try and speed pick and arpeggio all over the place .. then fall on their asses.. he plays note perfect, soulfull, tasty solos to compliment the awesome songwriting.

you are correct on all counts but they are sloppy.

yes, the clip was really sloppy^^

And discussions like this are senseless In the end it´s all about personal preference isn´t it?

                              stay metal
