I caught a BFMV show last year, seemed very metal to me and they are very solid players, don't really understand the hate, unless its the vocal style or something.

seriously, like it or not, but judging by their success you really can't say the name is shit.

My wife is a huge Hanson fan, and I have to admit that they're putting out quality pop rock albums these days. No more bubblegum stuff.

As to the poll...I got a "BFMV" album as a gift and it's catchy. The lyrics are really silly though. I've heard a couple Trivium songs and I alternate between hating the vocals and thinking I'm listening to a Metallica cover band.

Overall, the whole "metalcore" scene is ridiculous. A bunch of whiny teens trying to be different so mommy will notice them.

both can lick my balls but I'd take Valentine over Trivial any day.

hmm.....maybe it´s because i´m from a younger generation, but i think trivium rule and are totally not comparable to Metallica & Co., although i´ve heard that argument a lot. I have to admit i don´t like the screaming vocals in all of their songs, but have you ever listened to what they play? technique and composition is on a high level and the solo parts totally destroy BFMV.
This doesn´t mean i don´t like them (they have some catchy songs), but, seeing it from a guitar players view, i just think trivium is far superior.

                        Ok....I´m prepared for the storm^^

I'm from a younger generation and I think they both blow chunks.

You don't need to be tuned to drop W to sound heavy. Most of these bands don't understand that.

"OK, we can both have Ben..joint custody. I'll have him on the weekends. We could go out in my Cobra and give people the finger..weather permitting of course.." -Bill Z. Bub

I never listened to either of them till now I pulled up some of their live shit cause I dont care what you sound like on a cd cause they can make anyone sound good.

Trivium: Their songs had some potential and then they went off into a totally different direction a few different times. Song structure sucked and they reminded me of a Porsche trying to go fast in the buses only lane; it just wasnt happening. They dont seem to have in idenity. I made it through two and a half songs and that was all I could take.

BFMV: Well first song I listed to was 'Waking the demon' and I was ok this aint too bad; then he started singing and that pretty much killed it for me. Song structure is a 100% better the Trivium and I think the bassist should do doing the singing it seemed to fit the music better. So musiclly they seem to be the better(or lesser) of two evils I actually almost made it through their whole set before I turned it off, so thats better then Trivium; but that isnt saying much. One thing I did find rather amusing was that in between songs the crowd was chanting "LAMB OF GOD, LAMB OF GOD, LAMB OF GOD" I am guessing they were on after BFMV .

Now would I buy either one or the other? Um no; but neither one of them was my cup of tea as I did give both of them a fair shake.
