Don't left-click those DigitalSoundPlanet links (like I did) - they'll stall in IE6

Who did those tracks? (haven't listened to them)
What else do they have?

Re: Free Backing Tracks - updated 4-28

Bad news. Hallowed Be Thy Name is a *GREAT* transcription, but there's ONE tiny detail the transcriber overlooked in the drums - somewhow there's a stray note in every single bar that doesn't belong, and there's no way to get it out without deleting every one of them by hand, and at over 200 bars, that's a PITA.
I *MAY* be able to do a fix in the QSR by turning off that sound, but I can't say till I've tried that. I was almost done deleting them by hand last night and accidentally took out the wrong note, and would have had to start completely over to fix it
Anyhoo, I'll work on that today

One more thing. These all start with a 3-count on the high hat because of the lag time at the start; the first note is always cut off, so I added a 4-count to each song where the first beat is a 1/4 note rest and the "2-3-4" are high hats.

More bad news: I can't keep the stray noise in the drum tab turned off in the QSR, which means unless the author submits a correction, Hallowed is toast.

As for the Dream Theater stuff, I could only do one. The others had MIDI program changes in the Keyboard tab that screw with the QSR, causing the bass and drums to shut off. I've tried to fix it, but it'll only work if I remove the Keyboard tracks, and since those songs rely so heavily on keyboard backing, that'd make the song sound really weak. So those are also toast.

If I don't post it here, it's toast

hahaahaha I see, well I checked it out myself and I'm not sure I hear anything wrong with this one

I dunno, check that one out in case I'm not a moron and can't hear anything!
It's true it really is a sweet ass song...that would be cool, we each do our own version and post it see how they compare . But I'm telling you right now, I'm NOT freaking trying to sing on it!!!

That's the one I had.
And I won't be singin on it either

Ok, I got a half-fix going. I set it so my soundcard does the bell (ick) and FINALLY got that damn "laser burst" sound to stay off (sounds like a cheap 50's Sci-Fi show laser - some kinda Techno-douche sound that can only be heard through the QSR. There's no 0 for drums in General MIDI, so anything under #27 generates the tone of #27 - "High Q")

So, after much headache, here's:

Newc, I'm not criticizing YOU in any way, shape, or form. I'm criticizing the author of the Maiden "Hallowed" Guitar Pro file in that the part after the two guitar solos is REALLY long. I was humming the guitar and vocal melodies while following the backing track and there are a LOT of extra parts before Bruce yells, "Yeah, yeah, yeah... Hallowed be thy name...". Just thought I'd point that out in advance for anyone trying to play the Maiden song bar for bar.

By the way, VERY nice sounding tracks. How does this QSR thing work to make it not so MIDI-sounding?

Yeah I noticed it seemed a bit long there. Ah well

The QSR is an Alesis QS 8 synth in rack form (QuadraSynth Rack).

Newc, do you have the address to uppdate Guitar Pro 4. The version I downloaded doesn't play GP4 files and needs to be uppdated.

Newc: Nice work on the mp3s! I found a midi backing track of Dream Theaters Erotomania, is there any chance that you can do something to it so it doesn't sound so midi-sounding?

Here it is: Erotomania midi
