The tune is great if you play the main theme on a piano or acoustic guitar and it still sounds fucking awsome.
Adding ideas is cool, I mean I love when there is some acousting thing and you add certain melodies with cello or maybe a Hammond to it. But eveything has to be added tastefully. Music should have some space so every detail can "breathe". Overusing different elements and putting them on top of each other confuses a regular listener.

You understand how the stuff works bro.
Hell man... so do you..I think you painted a perfect picture of how creativity works right there..

Yeah, I think alot of times..LESS is definitely more..especially if your the only player..

Now I have very worked out solo patterns..to "impress" but they are musical..and I didn't write a song around these riffs like Ty's prior band did..and still does..I mean that..Tall Paul would come up with some crazy arpeggio and had to write a progression just to fit it..now is that really being a "team" player and looking at the whole picture..no fuggin' way..it's a very narrow and selfish view how some players/bands create music..

I want more players in BON..but Ty wants it as is..he thinks adding players is just adding drama..and to be honest with you..he's right..there is zero drama when when we write...I can see why he's extremely protective of this project...it's a good formula as is, and he don't want any more ingredients to spoil the soup..

So, It's all me musically, guitars, bass, lyrics and titles..maybe a couple samples we'll see..I want him to sing however he pleases without anyone busting his chops.

His other band was always busting his chops , just to be petty, those fags even wanted to all sing, but couldn't..but look who they have now..a tone deaf, opera man (attaxe singer)..so fuggums!!

Those guys are "friends" so I'll do favors for them with recording..but no fuggin' way would I ever consider joing that camp..hell no!

That shit sounds like an abortion on the verge of a trainwreck at any moment..some good riffs here and there..but way too busy and long winded for my taste..and absolutely nothing you could ever "headbang" too..boring..

    • yeah, a lot of players in metal don't understand that every cool riff/lick/solo isn't automatically a strong song idea. It's all about the chord progression, melody and groove.
Over-thinking is essential if you arrange songs, produce and mix but for writing you need creativity.
When real pros "over-think" durning the arrangement procedure then it's a strong analysation process...what works and what does not. No way they are gonna use every fuggin idea in one song.

Exactly...so many fuggin' bands do that..I'm not shitting..

It may be impresdsive to a few musicians..but while their busy whacking off most of the people are at the bar..as soon as you get a good band that starts groovin' and thrashin' nicely...they will leave the bar..most of them and come join the party..

I do love some very good prog music ..I'm listening to Adagio's "Santus Ignis" right now..but it's something I read a book to, fuck around on the computer as cool background noise really..very good playuing..ala Dream Theatre, Symphony X..impressive stuff..if you can play that shit..most players THINK they can and form prog bands and write music beyond their abilities and it sounds like they are struggling the whole time and that shit leaves so many chances for trainwrecks..I appreciate those bands that do it awesome..

But ..you can't headbang to it..

I'm all about the headbang..even with my broken neck..every song I write will make anyone a fuggin' bobblehead..

I think it's all that bass playing I did, like you mentioned before..it's gotta grrove and move..you can "noodle": in that shit..but when it's ALL noodles..it gets boring fast for me..

Perfect example..I love Yngwie, I have everything thing he's done..I saw him open for Dio anbd the best moments is the 15 minutes that Jorn Lande got..I was so fuggin' bored it was unbelivable..and he does that the best

When I saw Uli Roth..I was mesmerized the entire time..because he plays for the music as a whole and he's very emotive and dynamic..he's not about .."Hey mom, look at me"..YJM is cool for about 15-30 minutes..after that..I'm like please fuggin' stop...did I just hear this..it all sounds the same after a while.

I certainly think so..Live anyways..one of the most boring shows I ever saw in my life..

When Dio came on with Goldy..it was so refreshing..and when Goldy took a 5 minute solo..the place cheered MUCH louder than they did for Yngwie..because his entire set was a fuckin' solo..a one hour solo..that you can't headbang to..

He's a fuggin' AWESOME player ..WE all know that, no debate there..but after a few tunes..I'm done..
I wanted to throw a fuggin' tomato at him..

        "I am a Viking"..no you're not..you're silly!

Rising Force is what I relax with a book...it's just easy listening, wankery for me..or something I beat to when I get a Rising Force in my pants..

            Thanks VERY much my brutha..

I'll be hitting the studio soon..but I want to do pre-production for two new songs first..just like this demo.

Beyond Fear (Ripper's band) guitarist just called me..he was ready to get get a Bogner endorsment after playing my Uberschall before going on tour in Europe and Mexico. He played a Deizel that sounded great during one gig..so he's coming over my place again ...just to make sure.

He's a great guy, besides.. Bed Of Nails will be his ginny pig , and wants to use my singer for a project. Beyond Fear drummer Eric Elkins to will be laying this material down with protools, triggers over a click track..so, the REAL DEAL will be a huge difference from this shoddy demo..

Yes, I'll be shredding my ass off like my life depended on it...since I finally have the track to do so..

This is a big deal for me. I feel a good relationship will begin with BON and Ripper's camp..I would open for him anytime, and be availuable if he ever needed me..

Something good may come from this stuff..I'm hoping!!!

So , PLEASE..feel free to give me any feedback/advice on anything at all, I value your opinions very much and will keep them in mind while forging ahead..

Thank you very much..I'm thrilled you guys like what I'm doing here. That really lights the fire under my ass..

            You rule!!

Go to Nashville, choose the biggest studio, hire David Bottrill to produce, Mike Fraser to engineer and Andy Wallace to mix.

Then rent expensive vintage strats ('57), teles, LPs ('59), Gretch hollowbodies, Martin acoustics some vintage Vox, Hiwatt, Fender, Marshall Plexi, Orange and Boogie amps. Also a huge vintage Ludwig drumset is a must. Hammond B3 too.

A jazz big band from New Orleans, a Philharmonic orchestra from Germany and a Gospel choire from NY must be hired. No keyboard/software crap, the real thing is a must. Also, percussionists from Brazil and Zambia must be hired too.

Record each guitar track 20 times with different amps and guitars and for each time use about 10 various mics, dynamical and room. A lot of layering is needed. Double that stuff with acoustic guitars, classical guitars, 12 string guitars and a banjo.

Now when you record the bass, split the signal. One line goes straight to the board, the second line goes to a crossover, from the corssover the low end signal goes to a very clean amp, the high end goes to a vintage Ampeg wich is a little bit overdriven. Use tons of mics on the cabs.

For drums use 2 dynamical mics for Kick Drum, one inside, the other one out. 2 Dynamical mics for snare, one on the batter head, the other one below.
One dynamical for each tom and for each cymbal. Then use tons of extra overheads. Then about 30 room mics wich should cover every corner in the room. Use one trigger on kick and one on snare, they should be DDrum ones. Don't use a modul, but a real recorded samples.

Record 4 part harmonies for each vocal melody + a choire.

Then don't forget to use some of the coolest session cats like Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, Tony Levin, Vinnie Colaiuta etc.

Recording must be done only with vintage/analog gear. Fuck protools.
Neve preamps, huge SSL consoles, the best outboard gear and everything to 2" analog tape.

Sorry that I made the list so conservative but you have only a 10 million dollar budget so I really can't exaggerate.
