    First off, YJM didn't "invent shredding" in 1985, it was more like '83 with the Steeler record, which I would have put on this list. Also, the Howe High Gear record should have been on this list as well, and I agree that Impellitteri is largely overlooked, and where's Ritchie Kotzen? He is a monster too...

    But hey, this from a guy who still loves the first VVI record, I still remember where I was the first time I heard Boyz Are Gonna Rock.

    Oh, and i'll put Gilbert up against anyone, anytime. I love all the Racer X stuff, always have.

      I think you could be in a minority here....
      Doesn't seem to me that he's brought that much to the table, as far as playing guitar goes. I also happen to think that he's far too over-rated, but that's just me.
