        • Anyone heard of these dudes? They are Franch and they're from Quebec.

"Silence Calls the Storm" by Quo Vadis. Off of their 2004 album "Defiant Imagination"

Crazy drum stuff. I only found them because I was looking at this ridiculously good bass player's Youtube page. By Jesus Jimmity the bass is crazy.

Yep..That's a great cd. Steve D and I hung out and ate Burger King at the airport. He was carrying his fretless on his back ..we spent a half an hour or so exchanging bass riffs..he was playing with Testament at the time. Awesome player..he did more sessions than I can count!

I should hop back on this fuggin' thread huh..I just been so fuggin' tied up at home. It's insane.

              • metal is more of an ideology then something you can just define you can know the gimmicks and trends because they do not stand the test of time but those who stay true remain or return back to the roots of heavy metal while the posers disappear as their gimmicks lose appeal and I consider Sabbath to be the definitive of heavy fucking metal the beginning and end of all things heavy fucking metal

Yes, I've said this many times.

All Trends have expiration dates and metal is timeless. Metal is the anti-trend. its that simple.

Sabbath was the beginning of metal due to Toni's severed digits. Those fingertips sewn the seeds of metal in Earth. Since then, a metal forest has grown from those seeds...an underground forest of evil bushery

Hail to the metal shrubs spawned by Iommi's severed nubs.

                    Metal? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9KbmRTgigQ

People tend to hate on them because they got a lot of attention from being in a videogame. I dig em, even if they are pretty much channelling Masters of Reality era Sabbath. There are worse things to rip off...

This is kinda scaring me. They're starting to get semi-good bands in these games and I can't help but worry that little 13-year olds will start listening to them and ruining their fan bases.

Oops, sorry. I DEFINITELY didn't mean to resurrect this thread. It's not like there's any good music out right now...

None at all... Or any to discuss...

                            None of that either...

Why did I accidentally bring this thread up... Silly me.

                            • I'm glad you did, Ben!
Truth be told, I was gong to bring it back with this post, but you beat me to the resurrection dude!

Warrior Soul: What would you class them as?
To me it's metal, but I've seen them classed as an Alternative band. They have a slight Psychedelic bent at times, but they're still metal sounding.

In fact, it seems to me that in the 90's when the Alternative genre came to fruition that many bands were wrongly described as Alternative.

I realize that the Alternative genre was heavily influenced by the Psychedelic sixties, but any band that had elements of that in the 90's were automatically put in the same category as Oasis.
                              Damn A&R blockheads!

Well, what do you guys think?

                              • I'm not sure. They seem more hard rockish than metal but they do have some elements of some of the old metal from the 80's. The psychedelic stuff I have no clue about. That stuff doesn't really hit me as metal. I like the second link the best out of the six.
