    • Bill Z;
My freakin' god! Into Eternity? That is definitely a keeper! Awesome band. Great playing.

The vocalist is like a modern day Halford with today's metal vocal elements. Pretty much as you described; Dynamic, as it were. I gotta send these Youtube links to my bud. He'll freak!

This brings back the memories I felt the first time I heard Judas Priest's, Sad Wings Of Destiny. I raved about this band and Halford vocalist to my bud and lent him my record. He freaked, needless to say. As previously mentioned, he'll do so again.

      Thanks for the memories, Hornsy!

I know all I do is sing praises of the new stuff being posted and reminisce about how it affects me, without ever contributing any vids of my own. Like I mentioned before, I'm out of the loop somewhat. Slowly, but surely, I'm emerging from the abyss!

      • OOPS! I stand corrected! guess the guy is still in Two bands.

        from wikipedia:
In 2004, vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt left Bloodbath to free up more time for his primary band Opeth. To replace him, Bloodbath brought in Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy). The lineup changed further, with Dan Swanö switching to play the guitar instead of drums. Martin Axenrot (Witchery, Satanic Slaughter and now Opeth) took his place and the band was now bigger and more serious, no longer functioning as just a secondary project. The band's second full release, Nightmares Made Flesh, was released in Europe on September 27, 2004.
In February 2005, Tägtgren left the band due to "conflicting schedules". That same year, Mikael Åkerfeldt rejoined the band for a single live show at Germany's Wacken Open Air on August 5. Prior to the show, the band commented on the Wacken show: "Not only the first, but also the last gig for Bloodbath (with Mikael Åkerfeldt on vocals)" (later also turning out to be the last one with Dan Swanö). In September of 2005, Bloodbath started a search for a new lead vocalist.
In August 2006, the band announced the departure of Dan Swanö from their ranks due to musical differences and Swanö's restrictions to devote more time and effort to the project in the future. They simultaneously closed the vocal auditions, announcing that no suitable singer had been found.
On March 27th, 2007 the band announced that a new lineup would shortly be unveiled, along with news that they were producing new material, to be released on a mini-CD towards the end of summer. In August 2007, band member Jonas Renkse wrote a message on the band's official discussion forum which suggested that work was in progress[2] In December 2007, the CD's title, Unblessing the Purity, was announced in Mikael Åkerfeldt's "best of 2007" album list. It was later confirmed by Blakkheim on the band's forum.
On January 30th 2008, it was announced via the Bloodbath website that Mikael Åkerfeldt would be rejoining the line-up on vocals along with new member Per Eriksson (ex-21 Lucifers, ex-Genocrush Ferox) on guitars.
The new E.P. Unblessing the Purity includes 4 songs and was released on March 10th 2008.

I still can't comprehend how they are from crappy Regina. Having been there a few times I have a strong desire to never go there again.

            • I turned Jeri onto Bloodbath years ago..when "Nightmares made flesh" came out. "EATIN....My one desire my only wish is to be EEEEEATIN" Peter Tangren (Hypocrisy) sings on that one..I mean growls. Like I said good singers make the best growlers. growlers that can't sing can suck my PP...SUCK IT!!!!

Dan Swano, Peter Tangren and Mike Akerfeldt..have very similar clean voices and growls. It must be a Sweden thing! Dan Swano is in a zillion different things..I have most of them.

              Wassup Ben...Phil...Gin, you're welcome brotha!!

I'll keep 'em coming when I can..while Phil posts the nasty stuff. Hey, something for everybody..

I met this old man about 15 years ago in Wichita Falls Texas and he picks up this Saw and starts playing it. I later found out that he was a bad ass fiddle player. When they were younger they drank and had barn dances. He told me he liked music as fast and furious as it could be played. I wonder if these guys could have been the original headbangers

I was contemplating how exactly I got into all this rather fun to listen to death metal stuff and I finally remember how. I got this particular song stuck in my head for about 2 weeks:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBsbV7r78uo

                  It's such a catchy tune.

It's crazy how one song can change your whole perspective on music. There's something about "Man of the King" that I've always liked. It's my 2nd or 3rd most listened-to song with nearly 150 on it's play count(Doesn't sound like much but I always switch songs half way through so it's probably more like triple of that).

                  • Any of you dudes heard of the guys? Mors Principium Est is the name. Seem like a solid melo-death band. I just discovered them while doing some Youtubing. Here's a few examples:

                    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIQKRN4lJSE (Not so clean vocals)

Only listened to a few songs so far. I kinda like what they have going.

Started to recapture the glory days of stockholm deathmetal, circa '92. 4 track EP, got so popular they recorded an album (ressurection through carnage). Its in B, modernising it a bit, and in the wacken video you can see swano playing it on a right handed 7string baritone...left handed. Brutal.

Yes, I met them at BW and BK. They're from Finland and couldn't speak english very well. I asked their guitarist to sign their second cd for me. He got all excited and gave me T shirts and the cd. Then insisted my singer bud and I give him our autographs and take pics with them.. :ROTF: We insisted they take the $15 dollars and our autographs. We signed some pieces of paper they gave us. They had to think we were someone else...they were very happy.

Great band..I just picked up their last "Liberation = Termination"..

                          that shit was funny!

                              • Yes Phil, I passed out early last night..and got up at 4:30 in the morning..yeesh.

OK, Here's the very band that made me crossover into heavier styles of metal. They're still a huge influence on my playing style and writing. Tommy Veterlli aka TT Baron..is one of the most overlooked and underrated guitar players in metal, and what a great guitar tone!!! Yes, I told Jeff Loomis about them..oddly he never heard of them.

These songs are going on 20 years old. But they may inspire you like they inspired me. Awesome three piece band. Please give a listen..

                                C O R O N E R . . .

Studio..unfortunately, I'm unable to find my favorite Cornoer song "Son of Lilith"..

Tommy was in Kreator for a while. But he didn't get much solo action. He's an awesome player IMO! One of my faves.

Sorry, if I strayed a bit off course. I wanted to introduce the band that made me go from Van Halen, Rough Cutt, Dokken, TNT, Ratt, Loudness, ect. to >>> Coroner, Hexenhouse, Sabbat, Candlemass ect to >>> Heathen, Forbidden, Nevermore ect. to >>> Mekong Delta, At The Gates, Emperor, Sybmyosis, Arsis, and so on.. the metal continuum...continues.
