first thing that popped into my mind after seeing this thread was "JEFF LOOMIS".
however, i'll have to go for alex skolnick. he just does it all, and REALLY well, too.
another *highly* underrated player who's one of my faves is criss oliva. the dude's got FEEL and TONE for days, i can totally see why skolnick filled in for him after his untimely death. they're just in the same vein, very similar styles....skolnick used to be more "metal", though
Phil Collen and Steve Vai. I like them both, but for different reasons.
Phil, because I was heavily influenced by his style while I was learning.
Steve, well... he's Steve Vai... enough said.

I just just had a sudden urge to sugga dick..! If I wore that guitar and didn't suck male genitalia..somethin' is very wrong! - Bill Z.
Michael Angelo
Uli Jon Roth
Borislav Mitic (check him out: www.borislavmitic.com)
Jason Becker
Alexi Laiho (before you all start bashing on me, I like his playing skills and neoclassical inserts on COB's first two albums. Ok, FTR is also good album, but they're newer stuff is pure shit which I don't like. They pretty much sold out I think and became hardcore/numetal/american-type band)
