            In my son's case, his name is Jake....not Jacob.....he was christened Jake (much to the chagrin of the priest who insisted that he was Jacob lol)

                Those were the Latin American ones... here are some the EuroSpanish short names:

                Francisco= Paco (not Pancho) or Patxi for the Basqs
                Isabel= Isa
                Rosario= Charo
                José María= Chema
                Ignacio= Nacho (this is the same)
                José= Pepe (the same)
                Antonio= Toño or Toni
                Javier= Javi or Xavi for the Catalonians
                Alfonso= Fonsi or Sito or Poncho
                Eduardo= Edu
                Ramón= Moncho
                Enrique= Quique
