I feel the same way about Hetfield. Drm, thanks for your service and best of luck in the civilian world.

+1, but staying sober and choosing life is pretty sweet too

Digging it! Much better than Supercollider! Adler is a step up from Drover but more importantly, they found out where the compression knob was and wound it back so the drums didn't sound like shit to begin with.
Both Daves are good and Kiko is pretty much what I expected...which is, he played great. At least you can hear his leads, unlike Broderick's? CB's leads were too low in the mix for me!

Really? I can hear Broderick's leads fine - the problem is they're all shit.

Mustaine's leads on Dystopia are really kicking my ass. Kiko still has a bit of the Broderick over-reliance on sweeping but not to the same extent. Overall I really like the lead playing on the album.
To be fair to Broderick, I think he must have taken all the criticism on board when they recorded Super Collider cos his solos on that are much better than before.

I finally bought Super Collider, just because Dystopia had me on a Megadeth kick again. I'd avoided SC because of all the bad press and the one time I listened to it on Youtube it sounded bland as fuck.
But I actually like it. I must be a real Megadeth fanboy now, cos I always liked Risk too ("Breadline" is a great tune)! Songs like "Kingmaker" and "Built For War" are cool, and the title track is just a well-written, great rock song. I remember being pissed off when I heard about the banjo, just wanting Dave to get back to thrash, but that track is really strong too and the banjo works well.
              It doesn't deserve the hate.
Youthanasia is the worst Megadeth album for me. I bought it around the time it came out but I've never been able to get into it, despite the fact Marty - my hero - plays most of the solos. I can't think of a single standout track from that whole disk.

So, to sum up, Dystopia is so good it made me like Super Collider.

Megadeth were always my least favourite of the Big Four when I was a teenager, before TBA and CTE and SOWN came out. I thought they were a really good band (especially RIP) but not on the level of the other 3 in terms of back catalogue. Maybe that's why I can "forgive" Mustaine for writing rock songs and just appreciate them for what they are? Certainly they're my favourite of the Big 4 nowadays in terms of whole catalogues of work, with Slayer close behind. Scott Ian is so much of a dick I find he ruins my enjoyment of Anthrax and Metallica aren't even in the picture any more.
