  • Dystopia?

Anyone heard it? Apparently it leaked yesterday. I haven't downloaded (illegally) an album in years and I've pre-ordered this so will wait until Friday to hear it. But I'm curious what Jackson fans think of it....

I actually just bought the 20th Anniversary edition of CTE, cos I'm still listening to the original CD from the 90s!

What I heard...I think is crap.

    Mushy production again.

They 100% ripped off Hangar 18. Their own song. They ripped it off.

Also heard all of the new Anthrax. Guitars have no balls at all. I have friends making records in their bedrooms that have better production.

    Grumpy and done!

Ha, fair enough! I've listened to the two Anthrax songs on Youtube, and the three Megadeth ones, and I like them all. Think they sound great!

I love the 3 songs that were put out, they might sound like rip offs of old songs but at least they're good rip offs. Very excited for the album. It probably helps that Kiko is on it, for he is not of this world.

I only heard one Anthrax track, didn't sound as ballsy as the last album but it's still a good song.

I like The Threat is Real and Dystopia. Not digging Fatal Illusion.

I get out of the Army Friday and will be blasting new Megadeth the entire drive home. I've been a huge fan of Megadeth for the past 15 years and haven't been disappointed in anything except Super Collider in recent years.

Also, Kiko Loureiro and Chris Adler? Fuck yes.

I've been a fan for about 25 years and I've liked all their albums. Even Risk, although I didn't like Broderick's playing OR Drover's drumming. So this is kicking my ass although it has to be said, Kiko is better than Chris but not even close to Marty.

Thanks, brother. I'm looking forward to whatever happens next.

As for Dystopia: great fucking album. Death From Within, Post American World, Dystopia, and The Threat Is Real are my favorites. Not really any skippable tracks after a few play throughs this weekend.

Yeah I agree. Poisonous Shadows is the one I'm most surprised about: everyone wanted Megadeth to do fast, thrash stuff again, yet that song seems to be everyone's favourite and it's mid paced and sounds like something from one of the last two albums!
Maybe it's just not had time to grow on me yet but I think, so far, it's the weakest song on the album.

I fully agree. That and Fatal Illusion just don't do it for me, but they aren't bad enough for me to skip if they come up on shuffle.

Kiko's lead work is incredible on this album. I'm looking forward to seeing what else he brings to the table if they release another album.

On another note, I finally bought Super Collider today. It came with one of those warning stickers but this one said "Moderate Impact"! WTF is that? I mean, yes, it might be accurate but it's a pretty weird thing to put on a warning sticker.

Mustaine needs to get back on the smack, cause I don't like any of the music he's written sober.
