That red flake 624 body is hot - and I don't usually like red!

Making two basses; here's one of them. This one has a neat angel wing pattern quilt on limba

Body cut to shape with the neck blank and fretboard (curly ebony - sweet!)

Neck blank cut to shape, ebony headplate on, binding scraped

Chambered 1pc limba body, angel step quilt top, binding on (neck blank gets ears)

Another highly figured koa top (from the same board as my previous koa topped '71)

Neck dry fit after the fretboard went on. Looks good. Now time for frets and shaping.

                  Brief update:

                  Carved top '71 #1

'71 Limited in dark orange trans

Neck thru Raven in trans blue; this thing took on a life of its own and it reminds me of an old shipwreck, or something that you'd find at the bottom of the ocean. In a good way. The tint really brings out the character of the black limba and spalted maple.

                  624 bass

                  Neck through Supernova

                  7 string 624.

Fist CNC'ed body is successful. Good times!

                  Let the contouring begin....

Tons more, but that's good for now.

I know that is amazing. All of Sully's guitars are to me personally I always drool but that ghost ship finish is so amazing so unique.

                          Thanks guys!

The shipwreck look wasn't intentional, but it really took on a life of its own when Paul started adding the tint. He'd add a dusting of color, send me a pic, repeat. I think that there are just two light coats of it on there, and it really looked like something that had sat at the bottom of the ocean for ages. It's much different from what I originally had in mind, but it's also far more unique, which I'm really pleased about.

Dude, you make some beautiful guitars... but what's with this table top bodies lately... thing is so thick! I just read a story on Bill Steer (Carcass) where he said he developed shoulder and neck problems when he played Gibson's. Thin is beautiful to bro
