I like the EMG 81 in the bridge for distortion, but for clean i think it is too hot. I usually blend it w/ the 85 in the neck or just use the 85 in the neck.

x2n - push pull pot - coil tap the pickup to turn on and off one coil. When coil tapped they have about the same power as a single coil strat pickup. Very clean. Dimarzio recommends it as well.

Only other 2 I would consider would be Duncan Custom TB 5 or Bill Lawrence 500XL.

Custom is very hot and you can thrash on that but if you split it you can get some very nice mellow solo sounds. Its one of the best Duncan pickups out there. I owe someone here (maybe it was Tim?) for recommending it to me.

I tried for a while, but the fact that I am a member of this forum. the "palace" the line6 forum, the Duncan forum (i think) pretty much fucks that arguement
