Can you dye a board safely with the frets on?!?

    I'm pretty sure the vinegar/steel wool method wouldn't work well on ebony. Ebony contains a lot of natural oils, and I don't think the vinegar would penetrate it. It's tough enough to get rosewood dry enough. I would imagine that an alcohol or petroleum based dye would be best.

      Yeah I know ebony is regarded as a classy option on some guitars, & I like ebony (I have a Les Paul with ebony board), but still I think guys make a mistake when then reject fretboards or burst tops with unusual streaks, figuring & colour effects etc… it’s distinctive & tasteful imho.

      My 80's ESP Mirage Custom has some beautiful reddish streaks in the ebony board, although not as large/noticeable as your guitar, but still...
