Re: What Gauge strings Do You use on your Floyd Gu

    D'Addarios's 9-42 with 3 springs
or GHS boomers 9-42 but lately I 'm finding that boomers break too easily and too often.
the lowest I tune down to is E Flat so it's always 9-42
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

I use D´Addario 9-46 and 10-46, depending on which type of action I feel works best with the guitar in question. Always three springs and always tuned to standard E.

.009 to .046 OR .009 to .048 ..usually in STD 440 or half step detuned. I use all brands/makers.. Ernie Ball, D'Addario, Markley's, Gibson, Fender and GHS. I prefer Boomers, then EB's & D'Addarios. Whatever I can get on sale in the gauge I want. I usually use 3 springs but some have a two or four setup. I have one or two guitars strung heavier...010 or 011 tops going to .052 bass but they're hardtails.

My Jackson SL2H is setup 10-46 GHS Boomers and my Ibanez'/Heartfields are setup 9-42 Ernie Ball Slinky's. 3 springs all around. All but, 1 (Eb) are in standard tuning.

                      GHS 11-52 in standard tuning.

I have an agressive touch and find that 9's and even 10's snap too quickly and are to elasticy too.

I've always used nines and I have even used eights in all of my Jacksons. (and my 72' Strat with Floyd) I never have had a single issue and I have played everything from Maiden/Priest to Metallica/Anthrax/Metal Church.

oh, .009's can snap even when putting them on while stretching them but not very often does that happen. Breakage is usually due to me really going past the limits of proper stretching or the strings are getting old. Rarely does one break a a brand new .009 from bending unless they're trying IMO.
I play same most here..rock, blues, metal, classical.
