You know, I'm actually not sure of the fretboard wood. I think it's either Rosewood or Pau Ferro. I'd really like to know which it is. The neck is Birdseye Maple. Yeah, I really like the tone. It's one of my favorite guitars. In fact, I have recently sold off most of my collection, and this is 1 only 4 electric guitars I have left.

The PC-1 has a great neck and body. I think they sound pretty bad. That Super-3 is really bad. The sustainer as a neck pickup is pitiful. The middle pickup is way sterile. The sustainer system itself works fine - it chews through batteries though.
Buy a used PC-1 and gut the electronics and you'd have a fantastic guitar.I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

i do agree, to a point. the super 3 is AWFUL. i have a PAF pro in my euphoria. i experiment A LOT mith my solar since the sustainer died. but, to my ears, the PAF pro works really well with the other pickups that come stock in the PC-1.GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I've still have the original batteries in my 2004 and it's still going. You just have to make sure the plug is taken out of the jack when your through playing.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

I am not a fan of the original bridge pup so I replaced it with a Duncan Custom TB-5 and it kills! Sustains for days.
Lots of guys on this board have these guitars and 1 guy apparently does not like the sound. Well no single one guitar is for everybody.
This is the finest regular production American made bolt on guitar I have ever seen. I have played Suhrs, Andersons, G & L's, Zions, Langcasters, and a shit load of other high end stuff. This has as much quality as anything I have picked up and sounds better than most of them.
Not one of them has anything over the PC1 except for maybe a hum in the neck position.
I have played using the neck pup of the PC1 and not had a problem with sound out of it. But the bridge pup is where it really shines.
I A/B'd it with a mahogany Hamer Standard and the PC1 sounds better. It plays fantastic even if you have smaller hands.
You won't go wrong if you decide to get one.PLAY TILL U DIE !!!

I think this guitar is really great for playing Def Leppard so I can see why some people ( who aren't going for that sound ) wouldn't be 100% satisfied.

I love the Super3, it's one of my favorite bridge pickups. I agree that the HS2 middle PU is sort of lame, though. As a PU, the sustainer is so-so IMHO. Tone-wise - not great, but not bad either. But it more than makes up for that with the sustainer mode.
...Just goes to show you that pickup preferences are like a-holes: everyone's got one.
All other specs about the PC1 are top-notch, and many are unique.

What is a PC-1 with a Koa body worth? I have a line on one, but I hate the "sears" headstock that is on it. I might consider picking it up to sell it if I could get a nice return on the investment.
I want a PC-1, but I want one with the strat head.1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom

Thanks! I always suspected that might be Pau Ferro!
