Anyone own or played a Jackson JS22 Dinky?

    True. And weight is also not an indicator of what type of wood it is. Poplar is similar in sound to alder, but both can vary in weight, as can basswood.

      Wood is terribly inconsistent in weight and other factors. I work in a lumber mill. True story.
      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

        OK, I had to mill out the JS22 trem opening and it looked like Poplar to me. I've never had a basswood body guitar before but the JS32 is as light as a Pawlonia body guitar.

        I know the Far East guitar manufacturers will use any material on hand to complete an order but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck etc.

        Anyway, I've just played the JS22 through the Rockerverb and have revised my opinion on the tone to very favourable from alright.
