Yup, that's a DX10D. The serial points to 2005ish, but the only way to be certain with those numbers is to remove the neck and check the date stamps inside.
If you do check the stamps I'd like to know what you find. My personal list of date-stamp-confirmed numbers is missing a confirmed 976xxxx number.
      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

        2 other reasons it wasn't a DK2 are 1) DK2 never came in that finish, 2) DK2 is 1 hum, 2 singles

I don't like your chances of a direct fit for a JS neck, if you must have binding chase down a DK2 neck, the ivoroid looks so much better than the cheap white plastic they use now

The DK2 is indeed H/S/S, but it did come in Cherry Sunburst at some point.

I believe it was a Trans Amber Burst, not Cherry, there isn't that much difference between them though

Trans Amber is more yellow. There was also Burnt Cherry Sunburst that was more brownish.

The Cherry was definitely available... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jackson-DK2-...-/191303233024

I just bought a DK2 neck on Ebay for $139.00,and as soon as i get it and assemble everything,I'll test it out and let ya know.I have a EVH 5150 -3 head, and a 4x12 cab,so i'll be testing it out on a tube amp.
back in the 80's I had this pickup installed in a MIJ Fender strat(routed the humbucker cavity myself)and i remember just hearing how long the sustain lasted after strumming the strings. It was music to my ears.I already have EMG's in 2 of my guitars and the SD JB in 2 other of my guitars, and want something different.Kinda tired of the JB,just not enough distortion for me.Besides Ace Frehley & Adrian smith,Dave Murray use this pickup on their guitars.

Yeah,I seen this one too, just a bid pricey for a used guitar, and i'm not a big fan of single coil pickups, besides i rarely use the neck pickup in any of my guitars.I'm basically a rythym guitar player.I have small hands and fingers so trying to do those 6 fret stretches is almost impossible for me unless it's past the 12th frets.

No, not all Dinky's had that cutout, this was discussed on here not so long ago. Some of them do, some don't. My JDR-94 has the bevel, my DK2S doesn't. IIRC only guitars with opaque finishes had it.
As for your soloist having a bolt on neck - it's not a soloist.

Not enough distortion with the JB? Worked alright for Dave Mustaine for long enough, I love that pickup. The Super D is also a fantastic pickup in a Dinky though, you'll love it.

The scallop on the front of the lower horn came and went over the years - some Dinkys got it, some didn't.

As for a neck swap, what I've found over the years is that you want to use necks from the same 2 to 3-year period as the body, otherwise you end up with a newer neck that takes thinner screws mounted to a body that needs thicker screws. Sadly, I don't have a chart that indicates which years used which sizes. To be safe, only buy necks that include the original screws, otherwise a seller might just toss in any old set and call it done.

A 2003 DK2 neck will probably not fit a 2005 body, however, any 24 fret neck from 2005 will.
