I guess it was made in Japan, around 2001 maybe?
Yes, 2001 Japan. The 2000 catalogue says alder, but I'm not sure and catalogues contain errors, so...??
    96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

      • An RR24 with 07xxxx stamped on the fret board is a Japanese made 2007 model.

              • Sorry, I've just noticed this thread's about import models. Any idea about the year it was made?

                • I have a small list of USA numbers. U189xx would be 2007.
                  U185xx is Feb. '07
                  U196xx is Sept. '07
So, a good guess would make U189xx about May or June.

                      Korea?

                      • 8 digits? Should be 7 digits for a made in Japan model unless it's a misprint. Korean Performers had a 7 digit 1xxxxxx serial.

Those are tricky to date, could be a '96 or a '98ish. Performers were initially Korean in '95, but they moved to Japan somewhere between '96 and '98. To further confuse things: there were 2 different number formats. 9611xxx could be either 1996 for the date-coded format, or, 1998ish for the sequential format. The sequential format began mid-'90s at 9600000 and went up sequentially. ex: 9600001, 9600002 etc. They hit 9700000 around 2003.

If you remove the neck you may find date stamps in the neck pocket, but I can't 100% guarantee you'll find stamps if it's earlier than '98.

                        • Oh, you have a Dinky Performer because it's a bolt on. Soloists are the same shape, but they have a neck thru.

                              Ok, Dinky Performer.
                              You were right, 7 digits : 9611345

I'll remove the neck one of these days to check the presence of stamps.
