My advice: go into GC and play every single Strat they have. In any given series, Mexican or U.S., you'll find both turds and gems. If you try enough of them, you can find a $400 Mexi-Strat that will play and sound fantastic, and several of the models come with humbuckers. Also, don't forget the Highway One series--those are priced lower than the USA standards and always seem to play and sound good to me.

It's not an HM Strat. It has 3 alnico singles in it but has a Kahler on it. Here's both mine.

Look for a Japanese 67 reissue. LArge headstock maple board, I have one and its amazing. Awesome neck nice alder body. And they stay in tune. Altho mine has nice vintage sounding pups i want to swap them for duncan SSL1's which are more of the strat sound i want. Theyre cheaper than american usually and are better than MIM.
