  • Carvin #3 has arrived!

I got this in last week and finally had some half decent sunshine for some pics. My camera sucks! It looks 100% better in person.

It's an ST300 with Kiesel Lithium pickups, thicker neck profile, gold hardware, and in Radiation Green Metallic. I haven't yet done a setup or changed the strings and it already plays like a dream. In the hands, it's totally a Jackson SL2H minus the compound radius fingerboard.

I tried the iPhone camera today and it seems to do a bit better:

That is cool as hell- it really does look like radiation!

Do you happen to know what the specs are for the thicker neck profile?

I don't have it in front of me, but the Thicker or Thinner options equate to something like .03mm in either direction. That doesn't seem like much but I can tell a difference. My DC600's have the standard profile. They feel good, but I've played Jacksons for a long time and this feels more like a Soloist.

The diamond inlays remind me of a BCR. Bet that thing almost glows in the dark.

Honestly, if I had it to do all over again, my first two would have been ST300's also. I like the DC600's but this is more "home" to me.

My camera is a hunk of junk and doesn't begin to do it justice, especially outside. If weather/sunlight permits this weekend, I'll try some shots with the iPhone.

Great, great Carvin! Like the locking tuners and Floyd nut--suspenders
                      and a belt!

                      Great score!

Finally! Been waiting to see this....and it is awesome! The white pups with the "non-streaked" ebony look killer with that color. I'd love a single hum DC125 - type in that color.

I think there's no one hum pickup option available with their custom shop guitars, is there?

Straight from the online order form, no. But they might do it as an "Option 50" if you call them. They've done some pretty crazy one-offs, and a single hum isn't that outlandish.

Yes there is. My last build I opted for a single hum TL60 - think it was like a $100 option or so....but after seeing Powertube's build I'm gassing for his guitar in single hum.
