  • Worst Jackson/Charvel mistake I ever made!

Back in 2003 when i purchased my first dk2, the same guitar store had on its wall, a mid 80's USA Jackson, all stock for 399 dollars. Here are the specs i can remember

    -22 frets
    -strat style body
    -old jackson floyd style trem
-original jackson pickup, cant remember the models
    -snakeskin finish

So the story goes, I had some extra money and that same shop had an old Ibanez Rg750 which i have wanted for quite a while, so I decided to buy that instead. Turns out the trussrod was treaded and spun on its axis, still slapping my self in the face today

Everyone has a story like this.

I also turned down a US made Jackson white strat, HSS, black guard, floyd, and WHITE STRAT HEADSTOCK!!!

I went back a month later when I had the money and it was long gone.
This was back in the mid 90's.

It looked like a Jake E Lee sig model or something.
    It was only $400!!!!!!!!!!!

Onm hell of a regret as you can imagine.
Currently at 78 guitars - Paul Reed Smith, Jackson, Robin, Washburn, Carvin, Peavey, U.S. Masters, G&L, Hamer, Godin, BC Rich, Yamaha, Fender, ESP, Kramer, Cort, Ibanez, Aria Pro & Charvel

If I find a USA SD plated Jackson I buy it.It doesn't matter to me which bridge or pickups it has its coming home with me.
I've bought a few for silly money like a SD soloist for $500.00.
      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

In 1996 I was visiting family in Toronto. I was in Steve's music, and there was one Jackson Top of the line Jackson hanging in the store. I was a Soloist Pro, in dark silver or blue sparkle. I picked it up and it played so well.

It was marked down to $800 for a quick sale. The sales guy offered it to me for $650. I had the money too, and I decided to not buy it..

Wow, there is some serious goodness in there.
I hope they all found loving homes.

Trading my soloist pro for a car....

              Yeah, my car was stolen...
              Yeah, I needed transportation...
Yeah, it was a good deal I guess..

I just should have found another way...

I walked by a 1984 White Rhoads and walked out with a Model 3A instead. This was back in 1986 at Rockin' Robin in Houston.

Biggest J/C mistake I made was trading my WRMG and DK2S plus cash to get an RR24. I guess I was too lazy to save up for it.

A week or so after buying my DK2T, I came across a killer Model 6, that while it could use some WD40 here and there, was just amazing. I offered to trade, and even though I got a generous offer of like $450 for my DK2T, I didn't have the cash to make up the difference (it was around $600). That said, part of me is glad I kept the DK, but the other part really regrets missing out.

I tried to adjust the neck on my model 6 about 5 years ago and the nut snapped off! Still regret that to this day. Now the neck is bowed and nothing can be done

Sure there is. StewMac has a truss repair kit. It's deisgned for this very thing.
It slips in around the existing truss rod. and removes wood around it. leaving you a fresh new truss rod end to thread with the supplied tap. then screw on the new truiss rod nut. and you have a brand new truss rod with out tearing the finger board off.

the worst Charvel mistake i ever made was selling off my 82 San Dimas Strat head
Damn im stupid. But i did get 4 times the money for the Charvel then i paid for it. If thats any kind of excuse.

Gil I'm sorry but I don't believe you. Maybe I just don't know, but I figured that guitar unrepairable. I have tried to get it repaired 4 times. The most recent time, about 5 months ago, I sent it to Vwall guitars and, of course, it was returned "beyond repair."
