  • Are there neck pocket shims in the USA Production Model Guitars?

I haven't taken mine apart yet, so I don't know if the neck on mine is shimmed. The one I have does have a pretty steep neck angle - the trem floats pretty high off the body with low action.

    Any info is appreciated.

I don't have one so I don't know why I am replying. But, I recall a previous thread where someone stated that the Promods do have an angled neck pocket. If you don't like how high the trem sits off of the body place a shim at the front of the neck pocket.

I have a first batch. No neck shim. Taken neck off a few times already.

I've got one from the first through the 5th batches - no shims in any pockets.

7th batch - and first - no shims of any sort just good old fashioned floating non-recessed Floyd goodness. Just as god intended.

I actually put a shim IN my neck pocket, to decrease the neck angle and make my Floyd a sit a little lower!

Hmm. I got my Socal 2nd hand and there's a tiny strip of what feels like 120 grit sandpaper used as a shim to increase neck up angle. Must have been added by previous owner.

Who cares, anyway? Shims are perfectly normal & acceptable for bolt-on guitars.

First run SoCal, no shims here.

I have a first run SoCal and it HAD shims (one in the neck pocket and some thin metal ones under the nut). The guitar was fine after I took out the neck one, and only had a slight buzz on the high-E first fret when I took out the nut one. A quick file fixed that.

So you should check because they did have some with Shims.
