  • Favorite "non-guitar" song

Obviously, we all love the songs where the guitar and guitar player is a dominant force in the song. But what about the songs you guys love where the guitar is on the back burner? Where the whole band/vocalist carries the tune? Kinda thought about this after the Kings X thread a while ago. Probably one of the most solid bands ever, where everyone compliments each other and creates a solid song.
    Anyway, here is mine:

Yeah, the video is lame, but I think it's such a great song. Brings back lots of memories too.

      Peter Gabriel - Red Rain

belongs to my all time TOP 3, the guitar is very subtle

Anything by Jethro Tull, like "The Whistler", or "Songs From The Wood", or "The Witch's Promise" etc etc.

Of course, it helps that the entire band are incredible musicians, and Ian Anderson is a master of both the acoustic guitar and flute (as well as sax, harmonica and anything else he feels like, the bastard).

Van Halen - I'll Wait. Though, I guess the really great guitar solo in the middle of it maybe disqualifies it as "non-guitar".

Haha that cracked me up, "non-guitar" on the JCF apparently means "only one great EVH solo in it"

Journey - When You Love A Woman

mind you, the song does have a BADASS guitar solo, the guitar has no affect of the rest of the song

:ROTF: The rest of the song is bass, drums and keyboard/synth, so it's sort of a non-guitar song, except for the solo.

OK this is my favorite non-guitar song, as well as my favorite non-English song:

                      http://www.gjallarhorn.com/Bild/Video/4suvetar.rm

It's a great video, too. Any JCF bros from Finland out there? What's the deal with this band, they are soooo kickass. That song really builds and builds, and by the time the drums kick in I am totally blown away. What is that chick singing about, anyway? Wow.

I never listened to Christina Aguilera before this record, but I really like this non-guitar-oriented song a LOT.

                        I like some Eminem too.

That's an interesting one cause the original was very guitar oriented cause he wrote it for Jeff Beck and Beck Bogert and Appice recorded it first

Tears for Fears was first on my list, until I realised the understated guitar (but NOT non-existent) was one of the things I liked about this band. So I failed to jump in. I just went through a four hour bout of Pink Floyd, so my non-guitar brain isn't really active right now.
