hmmm maybe depends how u define good its a personal thing.....

btw there is every chance the vid isn't synced in with the guitars properly given the obvious studio quality of it....i'm guessing they were doing the rough track for the drums before layering everything else on and yes they are playing it at actual speed thats how its played .....i know...i can play it...just...and given the fact he's played a good 15 - 20 years longer than i have i would image he could probably play it faster...in his sleep... heh

I don't mean to say they can't play it at it's actual speed, but on that video they didn't. Just look at the left hand of the Warlock guy, it's ridiculous.

BRO! It is actual speed....period! Pat is a monster...When it's all said an done...The song like most CC stuff is predictable IMO but broken down, it is nuts.

Now Ron Jarzombek and Alex Webster have a project called Blotted Science and it should be very cool!

I know what kind of an insane motherfucker Pat O'Brien is, but please take a look at that damn video! It looks like a stop-motion thing at times!
Compare it to videos of Shawn Lane playing... that guy also was ridiculously fast, but it didn't look quite as artificial as the CC video. I took a brief look at the live DVD that came with the new Corpse album, I don't know if they play Frantic on that one but I'm pretty sure they can pull it off pretty well anyway.. on that video, though, no way in hell.

          --edit--
Also, take note that I never said nor wanted to imply CC can not pull their songs off playing-wise.

I have seen it with my own eyes (CC live in Seattle) and I can move pretty quick myself...Even live it looks like stop motion.

I have watched my disc "Wrtched Spawn" many times at home...It's the real deal.

Yeah that ain't fast forward, look at everything else in the video, like his hair and stuff, everything else is moving at natural speed...that's just how the riff has to be played...

this is way better, these guys sound tight, the other one was crap if you ask me...sloppy drummer and a guitarist who sounds like an average youtuber...sweep sweep out of tune vibrato sweep sweep sweep out of tune vibrato...CC guys are deifinetly better musicians..timing wise and playing in tune anyway.

Yeah, really sloppy drummer....He's only one of the best drummers to ever play in a death metal band in the history of time, and is a trained jazz musician....

in this vid he's pretty good but the other one posted in necro thread... there the playing IS sloppy, problems with timing and transitions aren't smooth at all...bad day maybe

You guys understand that the entire first Necrophagist album uses a drum machine, right?

                        lol

maybe they should use it live too, I think it's unacceptable when the rhythm isn't locked...specially when the band calls themselves "technical"....bad or good days, the drummer has to hold the rhythm at all costs, It's pretty annoying to listen when downbeats are delayed.

If it was a fan recording it...Delays and acoustics could have had something to do with the "Off" sound. I know we have had stuff like that where the crack of the snare was bouncing off the walls so loud the recording was hilarious! Just a thought...

I have always like these guys.

no, unsynchronised slop and room delays and phase cancellations are totally different things. btw. does he use a metronome live?
