couple of chord 'formulas'

1 3 5 major (C E G)
1 b3 5 minor (C Eb G)
1 3 5 7 is a major 7(C E G B)
1 3 5 b7 is a dominant 7 (or just a 7)(C E G Bb)
1b3 5 b7 is a minor 7(C Eb G Bb)
1 b3 5 7 is a min/maj 7(C Eb G B)

Thanks fellas - all I wanted to know was do I start on the root and 'backtrack' from the 6th to the 1st string [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

It sounds neat either way, and can only serve to improve my playing - I just get bogged down in "proper form" sometimes and 'forget' about individual interpretation [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Hey Newc -

I am simple, but I can explain it to you. haha!

You start on the G note on the low E and play the notes in succession, paying attention to the fret locations and suggested finger designations.

So, start with the G note on the low E using your ring finger, barre the first fret with your index finger, fret the note on the 5th fret with your pinky, and so on. I played it and it is actually pretty simple. I think that maybe everyone is reading too much into it. [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
