It's Paganinni's 5 Caprices..Not 5th Caprice.

No - it's Paganini's 24 Caprices for Solo Violin. This particular one is the 5th Caprice. Also known as Caprice 5 - Agitato, a-moll or Paganini's 5th Caprice in A minor.

Spidey is correct. Who is Paganinni anyway?

what do you guys think of paganinni's 22nd caprice...there is an excerpt from it on chops from hell (i think it was), it sounds awesome, and is great fun to play..much moreso than the 5th in Am?

Re: Paganini\'s 5th Caprice

Not quite sure how it can be more fun to play, the 5th Caprice is faster!!!!

Unless you haven't heard Itzhak Perlman(sp?) play it...

If you haven't, then GO RIGHT NOW AND BUY THE CD!!!

Re: Paganini\'s 5th Caprice

The 22nd Caprice is cool. I can't say as I like it better than the 5th, though.

And yes - what Word said. If you've listened to ANYONE's version and not Izthak's - go back to the store and get Izthak Perlman's! He, in my opinion, has played the most masterful versions of Paganini's work, by far.

Re: Paganini\'s 5th Caprice

Elliot Fisk BURNS on this stuff... if you're into it. Plus he plays it on a classical guitar with his nails, which is a hell of a lot harder than an electric.

If you want the quick and dirty classical sound, play a pentatonic minor with the 7th tone raised a half step - changed notes in <>. Note that some repeat - like on the high E and B string, use whichever you prefer. trills from the #7 to the root sound really cool and dramatic.

Elliot Fisk, eh? I'll have to check it out. Thanks Pete.

Obviously Izthak is on violin, not guitar... But he play Paganini's stuff with not only tremendous talent, but lots of feeling too.

Here's a link to some of his stuff...

there are some small sample files for each song. And it's Eliot Fisk... I spelled his first name wrong. He's a shredder tho.

Re: Paganini\'s 5th Caprice

yeah, i got that guy's version of the 5th, to be honest, i thought it crap majorly...its played way too fast, i mean, it makes it very hard to distinguish between each phrase...i was very disappointed with it, since iam a big fan of classical (i started out on piano)..i guess its cause im into more tasteful, slower stuff..like beethoven's pathetique sonata, moonlight sonata, and rachmaninov's preludes, esp. in G-sharp minor..

ohh yeah, i havent heard the 22nd caprice fully, or on violin..only that 'chopsfromhell' excerpt..might get the full version

'Not quite sure how it can be more fun to play, the 5th Caprice is faster!!!!' so what if its faster? faster also means tasteless in alot of cases, isnt it why the majority of people here dont like yngwie malmsteen, or are not overly impessed by rusty cooley? i actually like to 'feel' what im playing, and if its just fast tasteless doodling, i wont play it.
cheers
