  • 2 more tracks for the CD

Digging through my "to work on" stuff and found these two.

    Awaken (beware: very bass-heavy)

    Midnight Sun

Not sure if I'm going to change anything about them unless it's minor (fix a flub or two, dress up the arpeggiated section near the end of Midnight Sun, etc).

    Interesting note about Awaken:
I wrote/first recorded the rough sketch of it in early 2008. At Summer NAMM last year, right across from the Charvel/Jackson booth, there was a guy at a bass amp booth (forget the brand). As I'm standing there drooling over the Charvels, I hear this guy playing almost the exact same song.
    Spooky ain't the word.

Awaken is cool. I thought it was going into "Polaris" when it started! The rising cymbal and overall feel remind me of Hendrix, it's a great wee tune. Actually, the more I hear it, the more it sounds like a Scottish folk song type thing......? Hmm. It's vaguely familiar....Could it actually BE a song someone else already wrote and that's how some guy was playing the same thing? Whatever, I liked it anyway.

Midnight Sun sounds like it could be in a film soundtrack. Really cool melody. Like your other songs though, I'm not overly keen on your lead tone. Are you using high gain pickups, actives or something? I'd prefer something a bit warmer. I really like this song, it's my favourite of the ones of yours I've listened to so far.

Sorry, I knew there was something I forgot

Anyhoo, I'm happy with the lead tone, but that's probably because I can't come up with a better one

If I recall I did Midnight Sun with my NASL 160 (all mahogany SLS), which has a Custom 5 in the bridge and I think a JB in the neck.

I don't think I posted that "I see...." thing because you hadn't answered, I think it was probably in response to one of those spambot bastards!
