OK, the singer sucks and the lead guitar player can't solo or play lead guitar.

No Time to Die

Other than that, do you have any comments, tips, or suggestions regarding the song or the mix?

Thanks,

the timing sounds a little dis-jointed...maybe make it groove a little more...is that a drum machine?...pull the drums way up in the mix when recording and make sure you're grooving with them...if the pattern is not groovong, change the pattern...above all, relax when recording ...d.m.

Thanks, d.m.: the drums were all sequenced for the recording of the other tracks, then the sequenced drums were replaced by a live drummer.

hmm...you might get a better groove if you all play the backing tracks together...otherwise make the drummer lay down his part first then you guys record to him...they're good riffs, and a little groovin or swinging will really make them come to life...i didn't think the singer was that bad, a little over-effected but not bad...get your lead player a stevie ray vaughan videotape and make him learn vibrato ...j/k...d.m.

one other thing concerning mix...try to get the drums to sound big...eq, maybe a little reverb...if i've only learned one thing in all my years recording, it's this...big sounding drums make for a big sounding recording...thin drums= a thin sounding recording...so spend a lot of extra time getting the drums to sound good...you can have the guitar tone of the gods but if the drums sound thin, the whole recording will lack power ...d.m.

Re: "Be gentle, it is my first time."

Good points, all, and I thank you.

I'm sure it would groove better if the backing tracks could have been recorded live, and/or if the musicians had more experience.

Of course the over effected vocals are an attempt to mask the large amount of vocal suck.

The guitarist would LOVE some SRV tapes: he once saw a dvd of SRV playing a smallish venue, and wishes to this day that he could find and buy it.

The most reverb of any track is on the snare: I'm afraid that any reverb on the cymbals or kick will make them mushy/boomy. So I'll try to eq the drum tracks, and tinker with the 'verb on the snare and see if I can beef them up.

I love big drums.

So... dood... thanks!

I dunno, Brad, not that I know of: did I 'borrow' something without realizing it, or does it just sound Priest-y?

Man, I think that might be about the nicest thing that anybody could say!

It sounds like a soild song, and getting together and playing will help your band get more comfortable and you'll get a good groove going for you.

I like it.
I made a rock n roll sin when I tried giving in to make money, had to turn down low.

i think the stevie ray vaughan vid your talking about is called live at the el mocambo. probably one of the best examples of a true talent ever caught on film. hope this helps.
