I have done this with his permission and he is aware that I kept and reuploaded his creations all these years later.

GUITAR BT is back up!
Here's another recent and decent website of backing tracks:
This website is for sale! freshbt.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, freshbt.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!
Youtube also makes it easy for people to share and search for songs. Of particular interest are the video game master tracks from the Rock Band and Guitar Hero series with guitar tracks removed so it's easy to play over those.

GUITARBT is down now.
I've been using GUITARBACKINGTRACK for some time now... it lets you preview the song in low quality before downloading the proper track. VERY useful.

Anyone who wants the backing tracks for Dream Theater's album Systematic Chaos, contact me. I got a hold of the actual studio recording minus guitar - it's awesome, but I have nowhere to host...

Check out Guitar Chaos.com
Great forum with a cool laid back memebership. Reminds me of here a lot.

There's supposed to be NO discussion going on in this thread. I'm reporting all y'all perps.
Okay, I just went through this entire thread and a lot of the links are broken. I'm always on the lookout for backing tracks, and my favorite updated websites are below.
Joe Satriani tribute site, with backing tracks and fan covers:
http://guitarplanet.free.fr/backingtracks.htm
Massive amount of alphabetically-sorted and new/unsorted backing tracks compiled from guitar magazine CDs, partial band covers, etc.:
http://www.guitarbt.com/index.php?page=dl_list
Pretty much how I'm playing/practicing lately is downloading various backing tracks I deem are catchy and high quality (even from artists I've never heard of), burn them to a CD, and just improvise over the tracks.
Hope you guys enjoy!
