  • Need opinions on this guitar tone

whattaya think? FYI, my guitar is the first rhythm, then the lead. The rhythm under the lead is the backing track's guitar.

I like it... has a nice nice lower mid oomph like some classic Mesa tones but with a stronger bite.

You mean compared to the original or on its own?

On it's own, a little pointless IMHO to compete with a '59 sunburst les paul, vintage bassman and professional musician in a recording studio.

Nice classic rock honk. Thats the best way for me to describe it. Fits the original tone of the song perfect.

Sounded a bit like Van Halen (sans tappin') covering some ZZ..with more of the ZZ tone...So kinda VH Top..

Very cool, vibe and feel..and the tone fits right in that tune and style very well.
"Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
              Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!

"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

I agree, it sounds brownish, very tight.. to me its a little more modern gain sounding than a JCM800 but in that vein if you get my drift. Rhythm wise.. I think that would fair very well in a live mix.

F the tone. You could make a Crate sound good.
