It only took me about 7 years. Maybe 8

Jeff Beck does an album every 5 years. Pfft.

Checking it out now - I like Bustle and Flatlands...
...add to that Sailing in the Sun (cool jam) and The Road Ahead. Props for trying out some varying genre and styles.

Thanks. Chalk it up to Schizophrenia, I guess

Err.. not the Who album, though.

Bustle was the wierd one. It started off with a really busy bass riff that actually kept up with the drums pretty well, but then I decided it was too busy (even though that was the dominant factor in picking the title ) so after laying the rhythm and solo, I redid the bass track. It still gets a little busy in a couple of places (and it's a tad more mushy than I wanted).

Flatlands started off with the drums (basically a CCR Suzy Q preset in BFD2) followed by the generic bass pattern. For the solo I was kinda-sorta-but-not-really trying to squeeze SRV, Billy Gibbons, and Santana into it, but without trying to sound like I was trying to sound like them

Sailing I've had for about 20 years
I was watching some TV show way back when of various watersports - windsurfing, parasailing, etc etc. And listening to a lot of Satch

The Road Ahead started with the bass riff. My ex-singer came up with the main part of it one day while we were just jamming and making scratch recordings of stuff to flesh out. I added the embellishments and came up with the guitar rhythm. The solo still doesn't feel like it fits. Maybe I've just listened to it for so many years without a solo that I've grown accustomed to the space
