  • R.I.P. Chuck

7 years today, since we lost one of the most influential and prolific musicians to ever live.

    R.I.P. Chuck

Prolific? I wouldn't say that about him. But he was an awesome player and songwriter, I wish he was still around creating songs like "Pull The Plug", "Open Casket" and the rest.
    Legend.

I think putting out 7 albums that paved the way for an entire new sub-genre of music would make Chuck a very prolific musician but I respect your opinion.

Prolific means "producing a great number or amount of something".

Chuck wrote 8 albums in 20 years. That's not "prolific". It was high quality, Chuck's awesome. But it's hardly prolific.

You are indeed a major arsehole.

EDIT: my apologies. I assumed everyone knew who Chuck was and the guy was being disrespectful - the "major arsehole" thing is under his username.
Seems like a lot of people don't know who Chuck was - and you're surely not ALL arseholes!
            So, apologies.

I tell ya who's prolific, it's BC Rich for pumping out those Schuldiner tribute guitars. They must think he's Dimebag or something.

This is for the rest of us "arseholes":

Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner (May 13, 1967, Long Island, New YorkDecember 13, 2001) was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and genre innovator.
Schuldiner was the singer, songwriter, and rhythm and lead guitarist of the band Death, which he founded in 1983, initially under the name Mantas. He is often referred to as "The Father of Death Metal"[5][6][7], and his obituary in the January 5, 2002 issue of UK's Kerrang! magazine stated that "Chuck Schuldiner was one of the most significant figures in the history of metal"[8]. Schuldiner himself was modest about his part in the history of death metal, noting "I don’t think I should take the credits for this death metal stuff. I’m just a guy from a band, and I think Death is a metal band"[6].

RIP Chuck but I gotta tell you guys.... I had never heard of him until I joined the JCF and I never heard of the band Death. I think some of the comments were actually genuine and not "arsehole" like.

I saw Death live in 1991, Variety Arts Center show in downtown LA, awesome show!

Chuck's death was a major tragedy and as a longtime Death fan, hit me hard. He is one of the few celebs I can shed a tear for when I think of their passing.

Well, speaking from and arsholes point of view. I've heard of death, but I'm not a death metal fan so I didn't know the players or their names. I remember hearing somebody tell me once that the guitarist for Death had passed, but they never told me what his name was and quite frankly, I probably wouldn't have remembered anyway. But hey, I'm just an arsehole...

I am more of an arsehole than you are. I never even heard of the band Death. I never got into Death Metal.

Death wasn't really a "Death Metal" band really - Chuck initially drew the first waves of that scene, but the music he wrote and lyrics and what that band became was much more than just death metal.
What it is, is some of the best heavy music ever written.
His mother had stated that the band name Death was probably a result of Chucks brother dying at a young age and that it hit him hard - he initially had a different name for his band "Mantas", but the name was already taken, so he went with Death instead.

                              RIP Chuck - Epic Guitarist/Visionary
