  • KRISIUN - Southern Storm!

New Krisiun album anyone? I thought their last one, AssasiNation was about the best death metal album of recent years, and this one seems to carry on where AssasiNation left off.
They even did a cover of Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist" which stays true to the original but takes the brutality up a notch. I wish they'd left it off to be honest, as their own material is better than Sepultura's post-Arise.

It's good to hear old school death metal bands like Krisiun and Deicide still kicking major arse.

    Yes!

I've been waiting for this record!

I just got the new Origin as well!

I'm eagerly awaiting the new Morbid Angel though! That will be amazing......or awful hahaha

but waiting on it none the less!

hopefully it will be like Covenant and Domination with a little Formulas and Gateways thrown in!

anyhow This new Krisiun is awesome!

I have listened to them, but not in a LONG time. I will check out AssNation.

BTW, being a big fan of sepultura, personally, I feel they went totally "not-even-worth-listening" after Chaos AD. I'm listening to beneath the remains as I type this.

I'm not that keen on their earlier stuff - pretty generic DM I thought. AssasiNation totally blew me away - it's fucking brilliant driving music. There's not that many hooks, which might put some people off, but it's some seriously great stuff and the new one is pretty much more of the same.

You're preaching to the choir. Considering their first two came out 12-13 years ago it was pretty cutting edge for that time...and why they caught my attention in the first place.

That's OK, I'm still partial to Iron Maiden's first two for the same reasons..

As far as best DM in recent years..I'm going to go with Deicide's TSOR or Vital Remains IOE on that one..but Krisiun always delivers!!

TSOR is indeed probably THE single best DM album overall. I might grant you a VR one too, but it'd be "Dechristianize", I thought IoE was boring as hell which was a big big disappointment as the previous one was fucking awesome. But it's all good, death metal is very healthy right now. I wonder what Vader are up to just now, need to check that out.....

No offense to Bill's (horns666) choice, but I think the best DM album ever made is Cancer's Death shall rise.

CLASSIC!!! James Murphy rules..Hell, man I was talkin' "newer" stuff but ok.. I was just diggin' on some Carnage with Mike Amott..Oh, and some old Dismember just now and Disincarnate w/ James Murphy too!!!..Time for vintage Carcass!

I'm a sucker for Bloodbath too.."Nightmares made flesh" kills..right sis?!!

I love talking DM!!! On my "metal" thread I'm keeping things more accessible (for now) for so many stuck in 80's metal. I wanna turn 'em onto heavier modern stuff. But we know most people are put off by death vox. We'll ease 'em into it!

Yes, there's methods to the madness!

I'm wearing my kickass ressurection through carnage long sleeve t at the moment

The new krisiun kicks butt, everytime I roll it I think 'meh, more of the same again why am I listening to this' then a few tracks in I'm hair circlin' and goin nuts. It's just really good dm. The refuse-resist cover threw me though, made me bust out chaos ad again
I dunno how you can go from insane blast beats at 180bpm to doing refuse even slower then the recorded version, but man the vox on that rule. inn'r fee 'r your vworst en a meeeee! Gotta be brazillian to nail that.

TSOR is one of my standout albums of the last years aswell, infact I'm gonna throw that on right now!

                            Hail Yesterday!!!

I'm not really keen on great death metal bands putting covers on their albums - Vital Remains got away with a Malmsteen cover, mainly because it was the best song on that album, but Deicide doing the Deep Purple one, and Krisiun doing Sepultura and Motorhead ones.....it takes away from the albums for me, as the covers are so stylistically different to the bands' own compositions.
