  • What happens to some of the greats?

Like ED VANHALEN,HENDRIX,PAGE, and many others that had the true "gift" and then go off with drinking like a fish and downing all the drugs they can? and in turn either dying or ruining thier playing skills and become mere caractures of thier former selves
I see this happening to ZAKK W and a few other great players today.
ZAKK promotes drinking beer as much as he promotes playing guitar?
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

Being able to afford large amounts of booze/gear while surrounded by hangers-on who want to "party" with you....

Money and fame does crazy things to a person.

EDIT: But lets not forget that for every one going down the drain, there are 2-3 others that do just fine. It really is all up to the individual.
      I'm angry because you're stupid

Most of these guys spend a big portion of their lives wishing they had the rock star life and then when they get it they realize its not all its said to be. Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it and alot more that ya dont want.

funny how many of us would give the world to be making a great living, playing our original stuff in a great band
and then have it take off and then the fame sets in and you go "how do i get the fuck out of this"

I just unleashed a platoon of septic warriors.
I feel sooooo much better now and must admit the stench could've peeled paint.
Peace, Love and Happieness and all that stuff...

"Anyone who tries to fling crap my way better have a really good crap flinger."

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Yes, there's a bee in the pudding.

There's also a lot of pressure to "live the life"... You see a lot of this assholery when playing gigs with not-so-great bands, or used-to-be-great bands... It's really pathetic but there just seems to be this self-perpetuating culture of peer pressure to "be extreme"...

Well, as long as people cling to the "Sex, Drug, AND Rock & Roll" motto, you will have morons pissing their lives away on drugs (and booze).

Not to mention a lot of people first get into music so they can get the parties going, and of course it's easy to find other people to party with.

I mean, Ozzy used to party with the frikkin roadies because no one else in the band drank!
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

several seem to lose their creativity. stuck in a moment of time, but cant evolve. then they become greatest hits and playing at a casino near you!
...that taste like tart, lemon yogart

Huh? Just how did it happen to Randy? He seemed to have a good head on his shoulders and was doing fine when he was in Quiet Riot and with Ozzy. He died in a plane crash that was no fault of his.

I seem to remember reading something about Randy wanting out of Ozzy to work on more classical stuff. Maybe that's what he's refering to.

Oh, maybe. I thought he was talking about the drugs and booze and all that.

I'm sure Randy still would have had a career in music and would have been just fine no matter what genre he was playing in.
