It's kind of hard to decide where blues stops and rock begins sometimes. My favorite blues players are:

              BB King
              Robert Johnson
              Mark Knolpfer

And you can play the blues on just about any guitar, I will break into blues riffs with any of mine. However, I find that my Melody Maker seems best suited to the bill. Simple and stripped down as all hell, yet silky smooth and elegant at the same time.

                  Elmore James

I mostly love the old stuff and don't have any love for the SRV rip-offs

Mine, and I actually have cd's:
                          TBone Walker
                          Muddy Waters
Willie Dixon (A big influence on Led Zeppelin)
                          Clarence Gatemouth Brown
A little John Mooney, who taught me personally about Son House
(Mooney came from my hometown, and Son House lived near where I lived in Rochester, NY...only ten years earlier)
                          Hound Dog Taylor
                          Big Bill Broonzy
Elmore James, one of my absolute favorites
                          BB King
                          Clapton/Mayall
                          SRV of course
Gary Moore's "Still Got the Blues" is slick, but nice
And, yeah, old ZZ Top captured a lot of Texas style roadhouse blues.

This forum is mostly about metal but I don't listen to many of those 80s stuff a lot of you seem to be about... I play Blues on my model series.
