• Scottish/UK metal festival!

Metalism UK Promotions would like to announce Scotland's first true metal festival, dubbed "Ragnarok UK Metalfest"!

Situated in Perth, Central Scotland and to be held at the brand new, 20 million pound Perth Concert Hall, Ragnarok is aiming to provide Scottish, UK and International fans alike with a full day of pure metal on Saturday 4th November 2006!

With a 1600 capacity, both seated and standing, the concert hall provides a modern, up to date structure with technical facilities capable of hosting such an event and provides a central location within Scotland that makes it easy for fans to get to. Links from England couldn't be easier, with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee airports all within easy reach. A frequent GNER and Virgin train timetable and National Express coach services from throughout the UK direct to Perth bus station!

On the day itself, 10 bands - 8 international acts and 2 UK acts will span 12 hours from 11 til 11 with the customary Metal Market, Prize Draws and other top notch attractions. On Friday 3rd November, the day before the festival, we will hold an exclusive pre show party, in a venue that is still to be confirmed, with at least 5 bands - one a top international act.

Such is the response to Scotland's first ever event, AFM Records, heavyweight german label responsible for the success of Edguy and featuring such acts as Doro Pesch, UDO, Masterplan and more besides will lend their support for the forthcoming years which will see at least one of their acts take to the stage each year. AFM will also be holding a stall, selling their bands merchandise in the metal market.

Onto the main portion of the announcement, the bands. In order to bring you the most diverse one day festival lineup that the UK has seen, Metalism has contacted numerous artists about appearing but we are very pleased now the final lineup is starting to take shape.

Firstly, Headless Cross will be taking to the stage, opening the event with some of the finest old school Bay Area sounding thrash around. These guys, dedicated and focused, have a bright future ahead of them and it is our pleasure to be placing them on the bill in front of a larger audience.

Secondly, the other UK participants at Ragnarok will be the mighty Intense! With their second album due for release in 2006, the heavy edged power metallars can seemingly only get better as time goes on.

And now to some of the international contigent that we are ready to present to you...

Firstly, bringing backing to the event from AFM Records as previously mentioned, will be Italian Folk metallars Elvenking who will play an exclusive UK festival show in support of "The Winter Wake", the bands brand new album.

Secondly, we can proudly announce that Finnish goth metallars Charon will be making their EXCLUSIVE UK debut at Ragnarok 2006, also in support of their new album "Songs for the Sinners." This is an exciting announcement for Metalism UK, and we will be running a Charon related competition via the Ragnarok website in the very near future!

    And now to the headliners...

Metalism UK and Ragnarok Festival are very proud to present, legendary German power metal band - in support of their 2005 release "Majestic" - GAMMA RAY to headline the first ever Ragnarok UK Metal Festival!

There will be 5 more acts to confirm, all from overseas and will span a range of different genres including black, death, progressive, classic and pure heavy metal.

The website for the event, with further information can be found at http://www.ragnarokfestival.com

Tickets for the event will be onsale from Monday 6th February at 6.00am 2006... see what we did there? We're such suckers.

We hope that you will all be joining the festivities come the weekend of 3rd and 4th November.

Keep it heavy, more announcements soon!

Mate, Im in the Dundee based band Questioned By Theory. Would there be a chance of a support slot on this gig? Ignore the horrific recording of us thats floating round on here and Myspace. We've been likened to At The Gates, Trivium, Still Remains and Devil Driver (dont see that one myself tho! )
Check us out, we're playing the Barcode on the 23rd Feb in the Battle of The Bands.

            PM me.

No worries mate. Keep us in mind for gigs like, we can come through we're mobile. We couldnt organise gear to fill a hall that big though!!!
We'd be interested in knowing if we could use that venue for gigs we arranged as well (signed bands, we have some contacts haha)

                    Re: Scottish/UK metal festival!

But to answer your question, Perth isn't good for venues besides that or the tiny shit pubs with crap management.

Compared to a perth venue, Westport bar is beautiful, LOL

No worries mate! The westie is a good bar. We played Satchmo's the other day, that was a bit crazy. Band members getting dragged into the pit and nothing but broken pint glasses and stella on the floor We had our own "Corner of Carnage" Haha.
Do you come to many Dundee gigs? You'll have to check us out on the 23rd Feb.

23rd is at Barcode Perth mate, but if you fancy a Scumdee night Ill let you know when our next gig at Dundee is!!!

If you fancy a night of metal and the best fish and chips in the world, head down to Anstruther, my friend:

Mea Culpa are post hardcore atmospheric, Alrosa are similar but I prefer them, more intense, Apathy is the Killer are beatdown-tastic metalcore. No Further Truth and Forgotten Sound are metalcore but NFT are REALLY good, I cant comment on Forgotten Sound, and Ive described my band just on this thread!!! Should be a good night likes!!! Im not a big metalcore fan (at all) but still, the night should be good!

i work thursday till 10 though could maybe get off early and even if i miss the gig, could still get fairly wasted with y'as! It'd be great to hook up with ya at one point!

Depends on whether or not i can get the night off.
