you guys are all over looking "shoeless" JOE.
if not for the high and deep right field fence in the old comiskey park, and of course if he was not banned from baseball, this guy might have had 700 hrs. Ty Cobb used to sit the final weekend of the season while ,in other words he was "tanking" because he wanted to win the batting title
and joe played the last week out everytime. he lost to cobb by mere percentage points a couple of times, this guy might be one of my favorite players of all time. he couldn't spell kat, but man could he play ball. he beat cobb one year i think as well. it's the biggest waste story in baseball history along with mickey mantle.

I am glad to see some of you got Pete Rose on your list.
Personally I could not, and still stand that man, but we are talking hitters here, NOT personalities.

The man has he ALL TIME hitting record, does that mean anything to anyone?
ATC asked for the 10 best hitters of all time, not the prettiest swing or who could hit it harder.
Hitters.... Pete has to be near the top.

For Gd sake Superfly has Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz on his list and not Pete Rose. [img]/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]
