Make Firefox Faster

I found this link about making Firefox load pages faster. Has anyone tried this and found it to work? It says it only helps with broadband though. I'll have to try it for a while longer to be able to tell for sure. Hope it helps.

HOLY WOW!!!! Incredible!!! I set my maximum pipelining requests to a ridiculous number, 999... the recommended value was a mere 30... I am ZOOMING!!!! And I already had the Firefox Patcher that Xenophobe recommended to me.

I owe you big time for finding this!

EDIT: Lazy idiots like myself can do this very easy modification. Surely the rest of you should have NO problems trying it.

Man, internet porn doesn't get any faster than this.

No problem, glad it has helped. NOTP, you said you owe me big time for this. I've had my eye on the 25th Anniversary Jackson King Kelly. Shall we call even with one of those?

Wow, Firefox seemed faster than IE to begin with, now it just plain smokes. Awesome tip, thanks for the heads up!

Re: Firefox Tip?

Sorry for the thread resurrection, but I have to warn you guys. My brother downloaded Firefox for his computer today... bastard is finally making the crossover! So that got me remembering this little modification because I was going to forward him the link to the site. I checked my browser's settings again just because I was curious (about:config in the address bar) and the little mods were reset back to default!!!! What the hell? So I fixed it back up again... good as new. But check your settings just in case they've reset themselves. Not sure why it did that...

I THINK it may be the result of each Firefox critical update that you see once in a while where Firefox will automatically load the latest version of their browser onto your system and it resets itself. There's been at least two critical updates since I last applied these modifications, so for those of you who follow the updates (and you SHOULD!!!), check your settings again just to be sure.

Re: Firefox Tip?

Now that I got "Firefox" loaded, and it screams, what do I have to do to get rid of "IE"? (Internet explorer)
Do I "Control panel-add remove programs?"
Or do I remove it some otherway?
Thanks for steering me to "Firefox"
MUCH FASTER !!

Re: Firefox Tip?

Don't get rid of IE. You'll still need it as a backup to view certain pages. For example, even here on the JCF, there are photos that some members post (Xenophobe and YetAnotherOne come to mind) that I can't even view in Firefox, so I have to copy the web address over to IE to view it in IE. The internet is not 100% fully Firefox compatible... yet.

Plus, apparently you cannot even get rid of IE. Microsoft doesn't like being told "No".
