• What would your REALISTIC guitar collection be?

We have had threads of dream guitar collections. This thread is for what we want but can REALLY afford. All of my life I have had this idea of what I want for my personal collection of guitars.

Currently in my collection
1983 Charvel San Dimas Strathead
1985 Aria Pro II RS Knight Warrior
1985 Kramer Striker 500st
1986 Charvel Model 3A
1988 Charvel Model 1C
1988 Model 4
1989 Model 375
1990/91 ESP Lynch Skulls and Snakes
1992 Fernandes Revolver

What I would like to add.
I want a pre CBS strat, but realistically I will settle for a newer American made strat.
Gibson Les Paul Custom
Esp Bones
Late 80s Esp Kamakaze
Charvel Bullseye(Guitar Express)
Any Charvel SD pointy or strathead
1986 Charvel Model 2, sold mine years ago. Big regret.
A new Charvel strathead custom, if they ever let us have the strathead option.

My current collection (Jackson Shannon Soloist, Taylor K14c Grand Auditorium, and ESP/Edwards '68 Les Paul Custom) plus a black Gibson Les Paul Custom thrown in somewhere. But, I'm pretty satisfied right now... one fantastic Strat style, one fantastic LP style, and one fantastic acoustic guitar.

Funny, the lady that lived across from the girl I married owned the music shop that I took guitar lessons at in 1985.
She used to say that I should buy the blakc knight warrior they were selling or one of the blueburst takamine guitars they were selling because my 1983 strat was a POS. My guitar teacher (who was a friend of Eric Johnson's) seemed ot agree with the owner that my strat was not vintage and the Aria would be a cool upgrade. I always liked the Aria, but my judgement told me to hold onto the strat. To be fair, he may have told me to ditch the Ibanez destroyer I had and get the Aria, but I seem to remember him being a pre-CBS guy and not liking my strat either. I was 15, so I can barely remember hwat went on, but the black Aria sticks out.

If I could only have a couple, I'd have a

1)USA strat in HSS config in tobacco burst
2)Gibson Explorer 76 RI
3)and a toss up between an RR1 and a Gibson 67 RI V with EMGs. - I just can't justify two Vs since I'm not as petite as KK, Randy, or Rudolph Schenker (OK he's tall but I aint).
4)Gibson LP Custom in cream or Black
5) An HSS Fusion or Soloist with binding and sharks HSS config. Depends on if you can deal with short scale.
6) A one (zebra)hum baretta or strathead charvel with a irredescent pearl body and black floyd for good measure.
When you take a shower in space, you have to press the water onto your body to clean yourself, and then you gotta vacuum it off. - Ace Frehley

Re: What would your REALISTIC guitar collection be

I;m kind of in a state right now where I am trying to buy all the guitars I really wanted as a kid, but couldn't afford. Right now I have an HM strat, model 4, model 4 mutt, Fusion special, EPi LP standard, and a Washburn D-10 acoustic.

What I would like to add is an Ibanez RG 550 or 565, a Washburn NUNO N2, one of the Washburn EA-XX acoustics (like Nuno plays in the "more than words" video), an Alvarez Dana Scoop, and a Kramer like Joe Perry used to play in the Aerosmith vids. Also for a few years they made GIbson Lp's with odd colored tops like purplish-pink (I think there is one in the KISS video for "god gave rock and roll to you") that would look pretty sharp. Finally, I want a Charvel Predator in the fire crackle or lava crackle or whatever it is-they are bada$$! I think those are pretty reasonable.

OK, I'll play along. Some stuff I would like to own one day that isn't stupid expensive:

'62 Reissue Strat in Olympic White
Black Les Paul with a Kahler
Blonde Epiphone Casino
Parker Fly Mojo(They are sorta fun, but you won't catch me dead onstage with one!)
Custom Shop Jackson Death Angel
Gibson SG Supreme(the three pickup "tuxedo" one)
Vintage(not neccesarily collectors, but well loved and worn) Les Paul with Cherry Burst finish
San Dimas Charvel in black with a Floyd and a single PU
Chapman Stick
Jackson DK1 with the outer space graphic
80's BC Rich Bich 10 string
80's BC Rich Stealth

Custom shop soloist.
24 fret Rhoads, with 2 hums (no pussy one hum guitars here).
Another PRS (love mine).

A back up Mesa, I've got a triple, so maybe just a single or a dual for back up.
2 more Marshall JCM900 4x12s.
some nice cables
a power conditioner
a few new boss pedals to replace my bar beat ones.

Re: What would your REALISTIC guitar collection be

My Bengal Yellow XTRR is the best guitar ever, the only other guitar I would want is another XTRR as a backup.

Amps - I want to get a Soldano Avenger if I ever end up in a gigging band, otherwise I'm fine with my Astroverb and PX4.

I'd add a Carvin X220 to my current stable (1989 Carvin DC125 and Hamer Californian)

Without going into details, my realistic guitar collection would consist of all Ibanez guitars. Jems, Prestiges, Voyagers, Artists, Sabers, USRGs, US Customs, and a couple of RG550's.

Re: What would your REALISTIC guitar collection be

Stuff I wish I had that I might actually lay out some coin for:
- a nice plain top LP RI (there was a real beaut posted here recently)
- a really good classical, but that runs into REAL money
- a kick ass tube preamp

Other than that, I'm pretty much done. Actually, I ought to get rid of some stuff.

I'm with Tim. When I was growing up I would go the music stores and lust after the Jacksons and Charvels, then go back home and play my Kramer Striker

I have more kool guitars now than I ever thought I would be able to own.

That is until the next one turn up my G.A.S.

thetroy has the best playing Jackson I ever played in that XTRR.
