• Need help finding/buying a CASINO POKER SET!!

Okay, I want something like this:

Recently, four of the kids in my family (including myself) have been busy learning and teaching each other casino games every time there's a family gathering or holiday. Needless to say, with our shouting and excitement, we draw in a crowd to watch. When all the kids turn 18, I'm takin' 'em to the casinos (I'm already 21). We play with a tiny set of cheap plastic chips and it isn't enough. Basically, we need a bigger set of chips.

I've found two categories on Ebay relating to poker chip sets:

Listings 1

Listings 2

Don't they come cheaper than this? I mean, it's Ebay, supposedly a great place to find cheap crap if you look hard enough. I've spent the last few days scouting out potentially cool and inexpensive sets, but either the seller won't ship to Canada, or the seller won't respond to my e-mails! I'm getting frustrated. And the shipping is oftentimes INSANE because they're heavy kits.

And I don't want to buy the $100 set at Price Club.

Minimum requirements for me are:
-Between 200-300 ceramic/composite chips, preferably authentic feel/weight (11.5 grams per chip). Occasically, I see fancy Italian sets that have MOP inlays on the chips and in a fancy mahogany case, but that one buyer didn't want to ship to Canada, the bastard! It was also reasonably priced, the bastard!
-Carrying/storage case (wood or metal or plastic).
-Extra dice and cards are not important. Those can be picked up at the dollar store.
-REASONABLE shipping charges to Canada. $20 or less. Or, the vendor/seller must originate from Canada.
-Final price obviously must be a minimum. There are plenty of sets on Ebay that are one cent, but the shipping is like fifty bucks. And, those sets are usually huge 500 or 1000 piece sets, which is overkill!
-Foldable felt tabletop is not needed. Just the suitcase filled with chips is needed.

Yes, I know these things retail for a lot of money, being that they're authentic-feeling kits, but there has GOT to be a steal of a deal somewhere out there.

So, hit me with Ebay links, online vendor links (I tried Google's Froogle but they don't have what I need for the price I want), and stuff like that.

Check out 5Stardeal.com-

They ship to Canada, but you'll have to look for what they charge to ship there.

After a little more searching both on Google and Ebay, I've determined that online vendors/retailers are generally a LOT more expensive than individual Ebay sellers for the same product.

I've currently got my eye on a few 300-piece sets on Ebay right now...

Wow... these have come down alot in the last couple months! I bought my 600 chip set on eBay a few months ago for like, $75 with shipping, now i see some 1000 chip sets for $40 before shipping and some 300 sets for $5!!! Mine are 11.5 grams and are clay with aluminum case... Very nice set... I think you picked a good time to buy!

Yeah, but let's not forget that there's insane shipping prices to make up for the low cost on the sets... They gotta make their money back somehow!

Also, another thing is that the 500 and 1000 piece sets are the most common, and 300 sets are such a small proportion. This blows, because 300 is a perfect balance in amount and price, and it's really only for us four kids anyways, so we don't need anything larger than that. This has made my little quest somewhat difficult since I started looking for a set...

Got any pics of your set, Matt?

I respect your decision to purchase these things, but please do a deep gut check before you finalize the transaction....poker is the fad of the 00's just like the pet rock of the 70's. Will you really be using these things a year from now?

P.S. If your answer was yes to the above question, then clay chips are the only way to go. Live a little.

Nothing in the future is for certain, so THAT'S why we all have to live a little anyways! That's my philosophy.

I don't intend on spending much on the 300-sets I'm looking at. No big loss if we don't do this continually in the future. Not as big as buying an expensive guitar and then quitting, I say.
