Free guitar recording software

Never heard of Traction before, but they are now giving it away for free.
It's from Mackie, so it should be decent. I dl'd it last night and only monkeyed with it for a couple of minutes.

Cool! It's for the Mac too! The Mac already has recording software (GarageBand), but I wanted to tryout something else too. Thanks for the link.

Humm, I'm having problems unlocking the product key.
The web site says I'm registered.
I have the
License Number:-EB5E*******
Date Created: 11/26/2004
Tracktion Machine Numbers: Machine 1: bo*****
and I saved the Key Gen no# on my desktop.(the one they e-mailed me.
I opened the "TRACKTION" program- clicked the ABOUT button-
clicked "Unlock this copy using a keyfile-
found the file I saved, -Opened- And it says
"sorry-this unlock code isn't valid for this computer.
Anybody have any ideas to help me? [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

I've been trying to figure out Sonar for the past 2 weeks, with not much luck. This software was simple and easy to get started on....I'll be posting clips shortly!!!

There used to be a free version of ProTools for Windows available as well, not sure if they still offer a free vs or not, but it's worth checking out for those of you into that sort of thing.

The problem with the freebee ProTools is that it only runs on Win '98 last I checked. Win '98 on my PC is LONG gone!

I've been doing some research today, and you might want to check out this site: www.kvr-vst.com

There's a forum dedicated to Tracktion, and, in the upper right-hand corner of the page, links to several VST plugins. I'm still trying a few, so no reccomendations yet, but there are lots of links. (Possibly try 'Guitar Suite'...has JCM900, Boss DS-1/SD-1 & Tube Screamer plugins...nothing to heavy, but certainly useable.)

maybe put the file in the Tracktion folder itself. i've had to do that with other programs before...just a thought.
