get a double sided jack (like the ones you use for headphones for a cd player or to connect to a pc)

    download audacity

set the line in on the computer to a good volume

connect one jack to "line in" on the computer

connect the other jack to the tape player.

hit record on audacity and press play on the tape.

      Thanks! Downloading audacity now.

Are there any other programs or things I can use than audacity?

any recording program will due... i just suggest audacity because it's open source which = free.

you will also need to get a Lame mp3 encoder.

so you can convert the file to mp3.

What about MP3 encoders? The audacity web site recommends LAME or something. Any other recommendations?

Once I figure that out, I'll post my cool little cover of Emperor's I Am The Black Wizards for you guys.

            EDIT:
"you will also need to get a Lame mp3 encoder."

Oops, missed that. Still, any other recommendations?

try "dbPowerAmp" ...another free program. You can find it at zdnet.com

That's a good encoder...it supports several different types of MP3 files, and again....it's free
